    Jared Ivey has unfinished Ole Miss business in the Gator Bowl

    Jared Ivey has unfinished business as an Ole Miss Rebel.  Ivey, the third-year star defensive lineman, announced Wednesday he’s playing in the Gator Bowl. No. 14 Ole Miss (9-3, 5-3 SEC) takes on Duke (9-3, 5-3) on January 2, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Ivey has 121 total tackles over his Rebel career, as well as 27 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. He’s recovered five fumbles. Ivey finished this season as Ole Miss’ third-highest-graded defender overall, according to Pro Football Focus.  PFF recently mocked Ivey to the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.     Ole Miss has been one of college football’s most active teams in pursuing transfers during its five-plus seasons under head coach Lane Kiffin.  The 2024-25 cycle isn’t going to be any different. Monday was Opening Day for portal entrants. Ole Miss is already quite busy. The Rebels are targeting, among others, LSU’s Da’Shawn Womack (EDGE) and Shelton Sampson, Jr. (wide receiver), Nebraska’s Princewill Umanmielen (EDGE) and ULM’s Ahmad Hardy (running back).  Actually, Womack and Hardy are penciled in for visits to Ole Miss this week, as is Alabama linebacker Keanu Koht. The Rebels are an early favorite for Arkansas interior offensive lineman Patrick Kutas.
