Arthur (Art) Lerner-Lam is the Academic Director for the M.S. in Sustainability Science Program. https://www.science.ei.columbia.edu/ Art is also a Lamont Research Professor at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory a seismologist who has studied and published on the interactions between crust and mantle, the thickness of tectonic plates, the structure of mountain belts and crustal rifts, and active seismicity. He has led scientific expeditions in the Middle East, Europe, Central and South Asia, the Southwest Pacific, and throughout the United States. Over the last 20 years, he has lectured and written widely on natural hazards and society. Lerner-Lam and his colleagues and students have supported the activities of the United Nations, the World Bank, and other international institutions promoting sustainable development in the face of extreme natural hazards. In addition to being an instructor for Columbia University's Sustainability Science M.S. program, Lerner-Lam also teaches course in the M.S. Sustainability Management, and Environmental Science & Policy programs. With colleagues from political science, economics, and international affairs, Lerner-Lam also has developed related curricula on sustainability management and sustainable investing suited for intensive executive education certificate programs. Lerner-Lam has held Post-doctoral positions at Scripps and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been at Lamont-Doherty since 1985. He has been on numerous scientific advisory committees and editorial boards including as a member of the Federal Scientific Earthquake Studies Advisory Committee for the U.S. Geological Survey, as a consultant to the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and as a contributing author to the U.N.’s Global Risk Update. He has consulted on environmental and natural hazard resilience for the governments of Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Chile, India, China, Thailand, Turkey, and Venezuela. He has also testified before the U.S. Congress on the nation’s preparedness for natural disasters.

Robert Klitzman, M.D. Academic Director, M.S. in Bioethics Program, School of Professional Studies; Professor of Psychiatry (in Sociomedical Sciences), Columbia University Medical Center https://sps.columbia.edu/academics/masters/bioethics Robert Klitzman, M.D., is a professor of psychiatry at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Joseph Mailman School of Public Health, and the Academic Director of the Master of Science in Bioethics program at Columbia University. He co-founded and for five years co-directed the Columbia University Center for Bioethics, and directed the Ethics and Policy Core of the HIV Center for 10 years. He has published over 120 scientific journal articles, eight books, and numerous chapters on critical issues in bioethics including genetics, neuroethics, HIV prevention, research ethics, and doctor-patient relationships. Klitzman has received numerous awards for his work, including fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the Russell Sage Foundation, the Commonwealth Fund, the Aaron Diamond Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. He is a member of the Empire State Stem Cell Commission and served on the U.S. Department of Defense’s Research Ethics Advisory Panel. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a regular contributor to the New York Times and CNN.

Scott Rosner Professor of Professional Practice; Academic Director, M.S. in Sports Management Program, School of Professional Studies As Academic Director of the Master of Science in Sports Management program, Scott Rosner leads all programmatic and curricular development efforts, creates professional development opportunities for students, and manages all strategic planning efforts for the program, including marketing, enrollment, student life, and alumni affairs. Rosner is also a Professor of Professional Practice, teaching graduate-level courses in the discipline of Sports Management. https://sps.columbia.edu/academics/masters/sports-management Prior to joining the faculty at Columbia in January 2018, Rosner was a Practice Professor in the Legal Studies and Business Ethics Department at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Faculty Associate Director of the Wharton Sports Business Initiative. He taught courses in Sports Business Management and Negotiation and Dispute Resolution to undergraduate and MBA students, and taught Sports Law at both Wharton and Penn Law School. He was a five-time recipient of the prestigious Whitney Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching (2006, 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2017). He has been the co-host of the Wharton Sports Business Show, a weekly look at the business of sports on SiriusXM’s Business Radio (channel 111), which has been heard on Tuesdays from 4–5 p.m. (Eastern) since its debut in January 2014. Rosner was also the Academic Director of the Wharton Sports Business Academy, a summer program for rising high school juniors and seniors. Prior to being promoted to the rank of Practice Professor in July 2016, he was a Practice Associate Professor from July 2013–June 2016, a Practice Assistant Professor from July 2010–June 2013 and a full-time Lecturer in the same department from July 2002–June 2010. He served as the Faculty Associate Director of the Wharton Sports Business Initiative since its inception in 2004 and served as the Faculty Mentor to the University of Pennsylvania’s men’s basketball team from 2003–2008. Rosner has led consulting projects with a variety of clients both in his role as a faculty member leading student project teams and as the Principal of Hudson Sports Consulting, a sports advisory firm that provides a wide range of services in the business and legal aspects of the sports industry. Beth Fisher-Yoshida Academic Director; Professor of Practice; Vice Chair of Faculty As Professor of Professional Practice, Beth Fisher-Yoshida teaches classes in negotiation, conflict resolution, and conflict analysis. In her role at YPS she has been working to develop systemic approaches to building more effective communities through youth leadership in Medellín, Colombia, using a Social Lab approach. Dr. Fisher-Yoshida partners with clients to develop customized interventions aimed at improving organizational performance. She is able to blend the best of both worlds: the knowledge from academia with effective practices to apply successfully to real life situations. Her firm, Fisher Yoshida International, focuses on leading organizations through change by improving communication and creating shared goals and practices to align with the organization’s mission and vision. She works globally with clients and speaks conversational Japanese having lived and worked in Japan for 13 years. Dr. Fisher-Yoshida is the author of numerous articles, chapters, edited books, and authored a book on transnational leadership. She has a new book to be released soon on women and negotiation. Her main areas of focus are Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM), negotiation, intercultural communication, conflict resolution and transformative learning. As Vice Chair of the Faculty of Professional Studies, Dr. Fisher-Yoshida collaborates with the Chair of Faculty and Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to coordinate and manage the School’s academic governance committees—specifically, the Academic Excellence Committee, Admissions Committee, Chair’s Committee, Resource Allocation Committee, and Reputation, Relationship, and Development Committee. Dr. Fisher-Yoshida is also a Certified Clinical Sociologist (CCS).

Headquartered in Manhattan, SimErgy provides ERM consulting services to companies in all sectors, helping organizations implement or advance their ERM programs. Segal is the founder and academic director of the M.S. in Enterprise Risk Management program at Columbia University, the #1 such program globally. https://sps.columbia.edu/academics/masters/enterprise-risk-management With 30+ years of experience in measuring and managing risk, Segal is a globally recognized ERM thought leader with ERM experience in a variety of sectors, such as insurance, banking, credit cards, technology, consumer goods, biotech, telecomm, hospitality, energy, services, timberland, education and research, nonprofit organizations, and government bodies. He also served as chief editor of Risk Management, a quarterly international ERM publication (2008–2009). Segal currently serves as vice chair of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) ERM Applications Committee and as a member of the Joint Risk Management Section’s ERM Symposium Program Committee, jointly run by the Casualty Actuarial Society, the CIA, and the SOA. Prior to SimErgy, Segal led ERM consulting practices at Deloitte Consulting, Aon, and Watson Wyatt (now part of Willis Towers Watson). Prior to his consulting experience, Segal was an officer at MetLife, where he was a key player in the first successful adoption of economic capital by a U.S. insurer, assisting in its integration into strategic planning, capital management, pricing, and financial reporting. Segal also led one of the internal teams to convert MetLife into a stock company.
