Tara Lipinski: Unexpecting takes listeners through the Olympic figure skating champions’ tumultuous, on-going, five-year quest to become a mother. Her journey began in 2018, and since then, the normally open and public athlete-turned-broadcaster has kept this often-devastating roller-coaster ride a secret. Until now. Most people have heard of in vitro fertilization (IVF), but not the often-cruel existence it forces upon its patients when complications arise. Listeners will be shocked at the vulnerability and honesty of the conversations, and the hunt for some sort of acceptable reason for Tara’s excruciatingly painful struggle to build a family will continually drive the story forward. Unexpecting will tackle uncomfortable and taboo subjects and take on the complicated issues surrounding IVF and infertility with sincerity and humor. I've been binge-listening to your podcast for the past two days and I'm almost caught up on season 2! Your heart-wrenching journey through IVF and surrogacy has resonated with me deeply. While my own IVF journey has been shorter than I expected so far, and I'm currently waiting to try my first transfer, listening to you and Todd has been so meaningful. Like Tara, I love to research everything, and your podcast has helped me put names to emotions I've felt, which has been very healing. There were so many moments where I saw myself in your story, especially the funny parts—like boxing up household cleaning products or looking at Todd having a drink with quiet anxiety. I’ve had similar moments with my husband, and Todd’s perspective gave me insight into what my husband must be going through. I've laughed and cried throughout your podcast. While I loved The Egg Whisperer and Fertility Docs Uncensored for the doctor’s perspectives, it’s so exciting to find a podcast that shares the full journey from a patient’s perspective. Your openness has made me feel seen and understood, and knowing you both faced so many challenges gives me hope for my own journey. Thank you for sharing your story so vulnerably—it's been a lifeline for me.

There’s great information here but honestly Todd is sometimes kind of mean to Tara. Their dynamic obviously works for them but it can be tough to listen to. Also the name change conversation had some misogyny on display. Why should Tara change her name and why wouldn’t changing Todd’s name be equally valid?

Listening to season 2 episode 2 and am dying laughing at Todd addressing the comment about saying “like” too much. I have never laughed or cried so hard listening to a podcast about infertility. Thank you for keeping me company on my infertility journey. Congratulations on Georgie and know you are bringing hope to a lot of people.
