We are living in an increasingly digital world where nearly everything we do generates data. This information can be used to come to profound and impactful decisions that create tremendous benefits—but only if we can interpret, understand and put the insights to use.
The trouble is that although many of us are data-aware, we're far from data-literate. And for the data-driven world of today, and the data-saturated world of the future, our next guest says that's not good enough. Institutions have a responsibility to ensure all students develop data fluency, something that starts with closing digital divides.
Vice Chancellor of Technology and Data and Chief Digital Officer at UC Irvine, Tom Andriola joins Dr. Cristi Ford on this episode of Teach & Learn.
Together, they discuss:
· what it means to be truly data-literate
· why data is the currency of the future
· how to institutional leaders, staff and faculty can boost their data-literacy
· the role of AI in data
· closing the digital divide
· UC Irvine’s school-wide LLM, ZotGPT
