She is an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University College of Nursing, specifically within the Center for Healthy Aging, Self-Management, and Complex Care, and the Chronic Brain Injury Center. Additionally, she is a Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Scholar under the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Wright's research is groundbreaking, focusing on the complex interplay between hypertension and chronic stress, with a particular emphasis on reducing cognitive decline risks through innovative interventions. Her work primarily benefits Black/African American caregivers of dementia patients, a community often underrepresented in research. Among her many contributions, Dr. Wright has pioneered the use of hair cortisol as a biomarker for chronic stress, a protocol now utilized globally. Her accolades include the inaugural Midwest Nursing Research Society Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award and significant contributions to equitable funding processes for nurses from low-income countries. Dr. Wright's advocacy and leadership have also earned The Ohio State College of Nursing consecutive Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Awards during her tenure as the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer. Originating from Irmo, SC, Beverly's journey began in the local school system, culminating in her graduation from Irmo High School in 1976. Pursuing higher education, she majored in business administration at Johnson C Smith in Charlotte, NC. Beverly's professional journey kicked off at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC, where she contributed to the administration section of their Training Command. Transitioning to finance at Fort Jackson in Columbia, Beverly's career reached new heights when she became a tax collector with the IRS. Her expertise and commitment to financial matters eventually led her to retire as the St. Louis/East St. Louis Regional Territory Manager in 2017. Post-retirement, Beverly returned to Columbia, finding solace in family bonds. In 2019, however, her life took an unexpected turn with financial irregularities and memory lapses, leading to a transformative diagnosis. Undeterred, Beverly remains resolute, drawing strength from her determination and unwavering support system. Even on challenging days, she finds solace in cherished activities like playing tennis with friends and bowling with family every Friday night. Bonnie, married to Marc since 1982, embarked on an adventurous journey, moving to Montana just three days after their wedding. They share a life filled with outdoor joys, camping, rafting, and riverside moments. Proud grandparents, their grandson affectionately calls Bonnie "Jama."   Known among friends as the "Entertainment Director," Bonnie's creativity shines in event planning. From Derby Parties to mountain seafood boils, disco bus Christmas light tours, and Griswald Christmas Vacation parties, her zest for life knows no bounds.   Professionally, Bonnie devoted herself to business administration, notably serving as a Program Analyst with the Department of Homeland Security for 18 years. However, unforeseen vascular incidents led to early retirement at 58, with a diagnosis of white matter disease and early-stage vascular dementia. In March 2023, Bonnie faced another challenge with an early-stage frontotemporal degeneration diagnosis.   Undeterred, Bonnie sought help within the online community, becoming a staunch advocate for those with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and dementia. Her advocacy spans the National Alzheimer Association's Early-Stage Advisory Group, Dementia Alliance International, Dementia Discussions for Dementia Action Alliance, and active participation in the Montana Dementia Coalition. Engaging in research, Bonnie also founded and currently leads www.dementiaminds.org, the National Council of Dementia Minds.   Bonnie's mission is to raise awareness about MCI and dementia, addressing specific needs and breaking down associated stigmas. Her resilience and advocacy make her a beacon of inspiration.
