Episode 2 - Keith’s Story Continues

A follow up interview with my previous guest Keith. Keith is now coming up on 10 months - no fronts. He has grown to become an alumni staff member at our facility Creo Spero. At Creo we utilize a creative and holistic approach to substance abuse treatment including film, photography, podcasting, drawing and painting, as well as many other art forms. Keith works full time as Behavioral Health Technician and has proven to be one of our strongest assets to the team. In this episode Keith talks about learning to implement boundaries into his personal life and recovery. He also discusses overcoming catching COVID and spending time in an isolation assistance program. We also explore his journey of making that transition from client to staff.

Episode 1 - Keith’s Story - Co-occuring PTSD Part 2

Keith is a 24 year old man from San Diego, CA in recovery from a 7 year bout with addiction. Keiths primary drug of choice was Heroin however he abused an array of substances and suffers from co-occuring PTSD. Keith tells his inspiring story of turning his life around after growing up in a chaotic environment around addiction and as a victim to violence. He discusses what it was like for 3 years of his life in and out of the juvenile judicial system and group homes. In this portion of the episode Keith and I dive into what its been like for both of us living with PTSD while in Recovery. We discuss at length some of the coping skills we have gained and how we implement them into our day to day lives.
