So good!

I really love this show and can't wait to see where it's going.

Meh

Firstly, it’s just really dull. Everything sounds like it’s recorded in a tin can and there’s nothing that marks out any of the places they visit as distinctive, which is usually part of the charm of a show about traveling to different places. On a separate note, for the sake of anyone who cares about science, tuberculosis is caused by bacteria, not viruses. Also antibiotics only work on bacteria, not viruses. I won’t get into the other scientific errors I caught because that’s not the point of this show but I didn’t want people to have these particular misconceptions reinforced by this show.

Time Travel of a Different Kind

What if you got onto a train that didn't travel from station to station, but from one time to another? It would be confusing, but it would also be incredibly exciting. But also what do you do if you don't have your meds with you? How do you deal with that when you're in the 1890s?

What separates this show from others is its realism in a fantastical construct. There is representation of queer people and mental illness because, hey guess what, many people in real life are queer, and many people in real life have mental illness.

And you can have a show that has a great scifi concept and story AS WELL AS respresenting the LGBTQ community; in fact, the show is made all the better for it.
