Episode #7 - THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (Part 1)

Episode #7 - THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (Part 1)

In this installment, Pete and Pete discuss all things bionic, namely, The Six Million Dollar Man!  Areas covered in this episode are (briefly) the pilot movies to start the series, the original series, The Six Million Dollar Man, and the first 'Bionic Reunion' movie!!

The Six Million Dollar Man is an American science fiction  and action television series, running from 1973 to 1978, about a former astronaut, USAF Colonel Steve Austin, portrayed by Lee Majors. Austin has superhuman strength due to bionic implants and is employed as a secret agent by a fictional U.S. government office titled OSI.  The series was based on the Martin Caidin novel CYBORG,  which was the working title of the series during pre-production.

Following three television pilot movies, which all aired in 1973, The Six Million Dollar Man television series aired on the ABC Network as a regular episodic series for five seasons from 1974 to 1978. Steve Austin became a pop culture icon of the 1970s.

A spin-off television series, The Bionic Woman featuring the lead female character Jaime Summers ran from 1976 to 1978. Three television movies featuring both bionic characters were also produced from 1987 to 1994.

Episode #6 - JOHN DAVEY (Captain Marvel in SHAZAM!)

Episode #6 - JOHN DAVEY (Captain Marvel in SHAZAM!)

In Part 2 of our look at the classic 1970's Filmation program SHAZAM!,  Pete and Pete get the rare opportunity to speak with actor John Davey!  John portrayed Captain Marvel in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of SHAZAM!, and we were pleased to get the chance to speak with him, as he does not do many interviews.  Thanks to the recent release of the mid-1970s SHAZAM! (1974) series on DVD, John Davey is now being remembered as one of TV's early superheroes, Captain Marvel. He did the role in a total of thirteen TV episodes, eleven times in SHAZAM! and three times in the spin-off series,  The Secrets of Isis (1975).  Davey's Marvel might seem too clean and simple to many of today's youth (which is unfortunate, because we need these heroes!!), but to kids of the 1970s, Davey played a positive role model in a series that will never be forgotten, SHAZAM!

We consider this one of our best chats!  What a fantastic time we had getting to know John, and give him the opportunity to talk about his career and memories of this show.  We hope you will laugh along with us and have as great a time as we did with one of the nicest people you could meet, John Davey!!
