Adopted and Birth parent
03/09/2020
I was adopted and I am a birth parent who relinquished their baby. I was born in 1946 and gave up my first son in 1965. I traveled from NY to LA to have my baby and my parents never knew about my pregnancy. I moved back to NY 3 months after the birth, married the father 3 months later.(we were together 45 years; until he passed away) I was adopted as an infant from as a Black Market baby. The records of my birth were destroyed along with all babies from Dr. Jerome Niles in Delaware. I know nothing about my birth parents and always felt I was placed with the wrong family. When I was 70 my birth son, and his wife and 3 children, found me. The best day was a week later when I met him at the airport! We all get together with my other 4 children every summer for a week.He says he is fine with his adoption but I think he will when he is older.. He does ask why I gave him up and married his father 6 months later and didn't try to get him back. I will always regret giving him up and feel guilty about doing so. I would tell people wanting to adopt to make sure the baby gets skin to skin with it's birth mom and gets to spend time with her for the child's sake. People who want to adopt need to speak with many adoptees before adopting. Lots of different stories and not just from abused children. Peace! ( I hope you don't justuse positive reviews )
