Backstage Capital is venture investment fund that backs underrepresented tech startup founders. Since inception in September 2015, Backstage has deployed nearly $2m into 40+ startups around the U.S. that are led by women, POC, and LGBT founders. This podcast takes you behind the scenes to show you what it's like to build a fund from scratch and give you deep insights into what investors are REALLY looking for. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You might steal a donut. But that'll have nothing to do with us. Keep it funky, keep it fresh!

Customer Reviews
the definition of inspiration
Arlan’s personal story is inspiring, however what she has been able to build with Backstage Capital is where the true inspiration lies. The VC industry is extremely difficult to break into, especially if you don’t have the “traditional” background most VC’s look for, and that goes for both investors and entrepreneurs.
What Arlan and her team at Backstage have been able to do is create a new ecosystem giving underrepresented individuals from all walks of the VC industry an opportunity to prove their worth. As an aspiring venture capitalist, I have received a ton of inspiration from this podcast as well as much needed practical advice. I thank you for what you are doing and wish you continued success.
If you love being inspired, listen to this podcast!
I was first introduced to Arlan Hamilton on her season of “Startup,” which was captivating. Hearing about how she took on the VC world as an “outsider,” and turned that into a multimillion dollar fund focused on capitalizing on the underappreciated strengths of other outsiders, was beyond inspiring. Great stories about the ups and downs of trying to make it. Be sure to listen to the amazing story of Trenee, her hairstylist at Kimble salon. Who knew hearing how a hair stylist made her way to Hollywood would make me cry—love that episode!
Excellence!! 🙌
Backstage Capital is a ground-breaking company providing insight and analysis of some of the most intriguing situations facing founders and investors. Arlan Hamilton is simply amazing! Her inspiring story seems to be made of gold. Not only is she building a world class company, but she is breaking down barriers along the way. Ms. Hamilton is allowing us to ride with her on her journey, and we are holding on to our seats!! Fascinating and fun. THANK YOU!!
