The British WAGs of the 2000s — with Vix Leyton Space Trash: Lifestyles of the Rich and Uranus

    • Comedy

Before SPACE TRASH, there was Diva Behavior. Enjoy this pre-rebrand episode! **********************************************************WAGs — or the wives and girlfriends of football (soccer) players — have been a cultural touchpoint in the UK since the 2000s. Known for their high-maintenance glamour, boozy hijinks, high-profile feuds and apricot-tinged spray tans, these women helped usher in the influencer era from their first pap walk. Their moment officially began in 2006 when David Beckham proclaimed that the English football team's wives and girlfriends should accompany them to the FIFA World Cup. He got his wish — and Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and a gaggle of younger girlfriends set up shop in the spa town of Baden-Baden, Germany, to cheer on their guys. The British paparazzi quickly turned their lenses to the women and a pop culture movement was born.
