Season On The Brink, Pt 2
Episode 11 of The Capital Building Podcast was titled, "Season On The Brink". Which makes this episode's title -- "Season On The Brink, Part 2". This time Rob is joined by The Athletic's Tarik El-Bashir & Ben Raby of the Caps Radio Network.
They discuss how shortsighted it would be for the league to even flirt with not playing, give their opinions on playing some games outdoors to allow fans to come to the games & even a disagreement over the #ReverseRetro jerseys!
Conversation With McMichael
He is the face of the future. Connor McMichael joins the podcast during a break in his Schitt's Creek marathon on quarantine in Red Deer. The Caps top prospect is waiting to get back on the ice at World Juniors Development Camp. He discusses this year's top pick, Hendrix Lapierre, and raves about his "intelligence" on the ice. Plus, compares his shot to Ovi's. And what he's learned from Dale Hunter. It's a fun conversation!
At the start of Thanksgiving Week, Rob opens up the social media mailbag and answers questions from Capitals fans. He talks about a more consistent Jakub Vrana, the future for Connor McMichael as well as a heart-felt thank you to fans for their kind words over the last few months! From everyone at The Capital Building Podcast & Blue Wire, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Season On The Brink
The NHL & NHLPA are at a critical mass if they hope to have a season start on Jan. 1. Then again, if the reports are true, the season could be in jeopardy as the owners has asked the players to take another deferral in pay.
Rob is joined by Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun. Garrioch has been at the forefront of the reporting of the plans to return for the 2020-21 season. Plus, he tells us if Matt Murray can regain the form that helped him lead the Penguins to 2 Stanley Cups.
Retro Reverse Jersey Reveal
Alternate jerseys are released for the fans. So, who better to get to speak on the topic than two of the Caps biggest fans. Rob is joined by Loud Goat & The Man In Red to get their thoughts on the throwback jerseys as well as all the other teams new/old looks.
Plus, he gets their thoughts on the offseason moves. AND, we get a Loud Goat staple - the "LET'S GO CAPS" chant at the end.
Mike Maniscalco's Nightmare Turns Into A Dream Come True
In October of 2019, Mike Maniscalco thought he received a death sentence. Doctors found a "basketball sized" tumor in his stomach on a road trip out West. One year later, he's cancer free and living out his dream of being the new play-by-play voice of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Mike is Rob's guest today. He gives vivid details of the night he spent in the hospital finding out about the lump in his belly. And what he has in common with Jamie Lee Curtis & Michael Myers.
