    Joy

    Joy

In life, we can experience good things on the outside, but that doesn’t guarantee joy on the inside. The converse is also true: just because we have hard things and painful things happening on the outside, that doesn’t mean we lack joy on the inside. In, “Joy,” Pastor Dave Gustavsen reveals the source and surprise of real joy – something deeper than happiness, that is not dependent on circumstances. This joy comes only from nearness to God.

    Love

    Love

1 John 4:19 says, "We Love Because He First Loved Us.” In this week’s sermon, “Love,” Pastor Dave Gustavsen explains how love is three things: action, sacrifice, and undeserved. Love comes from God and we can love others well when we are receiving God's love ourselves.

    Building the We

    Building the We

Life is fragile. Knowing this truth should cause us to consider how we can devote ourselves to things that really matter. In the first of two Vision Sundays, Pastor Dave Gustavsen shares what God is calling us to as a church. “Building the We” reminds us that Jesus calls us to love God, love people, and serve the world. Special guests will share some exciting things about what this will look like for The Chapel in the year ahead!

    Power to Love

    Power to Love

Deep down inside each of us, we want to live a life full of love. The experience of true love, both receiving and giving it, is the most exhilarating part of being human. But, without God’s power working in us, trying to live a life of love will leave us discouraged. In "Power to Love" Pastor Ted Voltmer and Associate Director of Student Ministries Cesar Tapia, show us how we can learn from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and live a life full of love through God’s power.

    Praise

    Praise

Everyone wants to be happy. So many voices in culture tell us the key to happiness is to focus on our own self-esteem and our own fulfillment. But, happiness is actually a by-product that only comes when we take our eyes off ourselves and learn to focus on something much bigger. Pastor Dave Gustavsen wraps up our series on the Psalms with, “Praise,” reminding us that the true path to happiness is to praise the Lord for all he is, with all you’ve got, in all of life.
