When protesters descended on the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968, they came to peacefully protest racism, politics and the country’s involvement in Vietnam. But the whole world watched as the police beat and arrested protestors. The conflict became the spark that ignited a revolution, and the men who led the protests were put on trial--which came to be known as “the Trial of the Chicago 7.” From Wondery, the makers of American Scandal and American History Tellers, comes this incredible true story about the defendants charged with inciting riots and conspiracy. And the culture war that followed. Hosted by the lawyer, actor, and activist Hill Harper.

As Great as the Film!

I never thought Aaron Sorkin’s brilliant “Trial of the Chicago Seven” could be topped but this podcast is every bit as fascinating as the film..and even more informative! William Kunstler was a Greenwich Village neighbor of mine that I got to know a bit, walking our dogs in the park and 1968 happened when I was becoming acutely aware of political and social unrest and upheaval as a 12 year old in Texas.

It is such a treat to listen to this brilliant podcast and it brings back vivid images, both from Sorkin’s film AND from scenes I saw on TV at the time and heard about later but never fully understood. I can’t get enough of this great podcast! Bravo! Well done!

Great - but it’s a rerun

Has anyone noticed these are repurposed episodes from the now defunct legal wars - what’s going with wondry? They make great content but at times episodes disappear from the food and it never explained (e.g. one on one and Legal Wars). Like business wars one person does all the voices - I can see how they can be irritating to some but I enjoy it. Anyway wondery thank you for this content but don’t act like this is new - I listened to these episodes two years ago. And be more transparent with your listeners!
