Creed (part 5): No Fear in Judgment :: 3/3/24
John Driver explores the next line of the Apostles’ Creed: "From there he [Christ] will come to judge the living and the dead.” These topics can easily cause obsession over times, dates, and possible ways events might happen, as well as fear of God’s judgment. But we can become joyfully grounded in the simplicity of Jesus’s promise to come again, as well as His decision to experience the judgment we deserve, meaning we are not longer appointed for wrath, but for a fullness of life that never ends.

Creed (part 3) - The Crux of Our Life in Christ :: 2/4/24
John Driver addresses the next stanza from the Apostles’ Creed: [Jesus] was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead.” The cross is the place where all things intersect— heaven and earth, sin and rightness, despair and hope, life and death. The work that Jesus did on the cross and in unseen places during His death eventually led to the ultimate moment that secured life for us that never has to end: His resurrection. In this way, the cross (literally in Latin, “crux”) truly is the crux of our faith.

Today, Pastor Andrew dives into the truths encapsulated in the apostles' creed, focusing on the stanza: "and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate.” High points include the miraculous conception, His suffering, and how these shape our daily life in Christ.

Creed (part 1) - The History and Importance of the Apostles’ Creed :: 2/4/24
John Driver kicks off a new series by exploring the ways different people embrace a vast diversity of Christian beliefs, which can lead to confusion and division. The Early Church had the same experiences, which is why they prayerfully developed creeds to help every believer “speak the same thing.” This does not mean seeing every facet of faith identically, but rather agreeing upon that which is orthodox and essential so that we can together hold to "the hope we profess,” and "spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
