    SNL & VICE News Executive Producer & Vice President Beverly Chase

    Beverly Chase is an award-winning television news executive with over two decades of experience in the industry. Working across a variety of projects including scripted, non-scripted, and feature and short-form documentaries, Chase has produced and edited hundreds of hours of television.  Previously a producer and editor at NBC News for 15 years, Beverly has worked on critically-acclaimed programs including Nightly News, TODAY, Dateline, Saturday Night Live, as well as working as an Olympics feature editor on location in Torino, Vancouver, and Beijing. She’s produced and edited for high-profile projects in NBC’s news division, including fast-turn breaking news specials ranging from natural disasters such as the aftermath of  Hurricane Katrina and the Indian Ocean Tsunami, to international crises like the global recession, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Beverly has also worked on productions for PBS, History, A&E, Discovery, MTV, and a number of feature documentary projects.  At VICE, Beverly has produced across newsmagazine series “VICE” on HBO, “Investigations by VICE” on Hulu, and most-recently, “VICE” on Showtime. As executive producer and showrunner of “VICE” on Showtime, she serves as the lead creative voice behind each episode, overseeing the series vision and leading the show’s process from pitch through final episode delivery. Her work has earned 5 Primetime Emmy® nominations, 9 News and Documentary Emmy® wins, 2 Peabodys and 2 DuPont Awards.  She also recently received a Gracie award for Outstanding Non Fiction Showrunner from the Alliance for Women in Media.

    How to Work for a Top 10 Tech Company - Apple's Dr. Joy Johnson Electrical Engineer & Computer Scientist

    In this episode Dr. Joy Johnson speaks about her upbringing, mentor, family and her path to working for one of the top tech companies in the world. Dr. Johnson is a 2015 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with her doctorate in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. She was an National Science Foundation Fellow and Intel GEM PhD Fellow while at MIT where her research focused theoretical semiconductor process modeling, inventing environmentally benign fabrication processes and electrochemical energy systems. Following graduate school, Dr. Johnson transitioned from researching physical models to building commercial ones in software - leading mobile development at a MIT-founded music technology startup, AudioCommon, as a partner. After leading development of three mobile products at AudioCommon, she transitioned to the west coast to Apple’s Special Projects Group where she worked in HW engineering experience prototyping and has now transitioning back to her research roots in Apple's PPO (Panel, Process, Optics) in emerging display technology development as a HW R&D Engineering Manager. She has served on the NC State University College of Engineering Young Alumni board and on the boards of STEM-related non-profits focused on providing technical, research experiences for minorities and women, including the INTech Camp for Girls and iTREK.
