Welcome to The Curated Craftsmen™, where we’ll explore the hands, head, and heart behind entrepreneurs from a multitude of different creative industries including sign painting, commercial illustration, metal sculpture, automotive paint, leather tooling, and so much more.
My name is Kate Cook, the artistic drive behind Asphalt Canvas Custom Art, and your host for these conversations where we'll learn about art, business, and belief.

Based currently in Kansas, after a big move from Southern, California, Max has been specializing in hand painted artwork, commercial illustration, car building, and logo design for the past 25 years. His impressive list of past clients includes SEMA, Disney, Papa Roach, and Napa Auto parts.

3. BOMONSTER | The Curated Craftsmen™
Today, we are getting to know the hands, head, and heart behind the award winning scratchboard artist known as, BOMONSTER. His playful work captures the art of speed in a bold and innovative way, using the unique and uncommon media of knives and black boards to create his artwork. With his home base in Northern Arizona, BO travels the country with his wife, whom he loving calls, "Mrs. BOMONSTER", selling his artwork and merchandise at famous car shows and large music festivals from a beautifully branded and well designed vendor tent. BOMONSTER has created original art for some of the most Americana brands in our culture including Hang Ten, Route 66, and Bob's Big Boy Restaurant. His iconic imagery highlights the playful stories of car builders and motorcycle lovers who in his words, "live life in their own lane and have fun doing it".

Love the podcast, especially since it is so relatable! The show is well structured and thought out. With living in a creators world, it’s hard to stand out, but Kate is doing it with this great show!

Great podcast guys! I like how you discuss the meaning of being a craftsman and don’t necessarily come into it pre-wired with a canned answer. As you grow in this medium, that format will allow your future guests to offer up their own experiences and definitions so that our view(s) will be better shaped because of them. Besides the book of Exodus, I’m also reminded of Nehemiah and all the craftsmen he assembled to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Can’t wait for the next one! 👍🏻
