I joined the Navy, spent thanksgiving, my 19th birthday, Christmas, new year’s and Reagan’s inauguration in boot camp during Carter’s last year. But I made sure the recruiter wasn’t committing me to be gone away before the election, and made d••• sure my first ever vote was against Carter for uncle Ronnie before I got on the bus and packed off to live a life of misadventures and see the world; and protect and defend from ALL enemies foreign and domestic.
