I was most interested to hear The Dixie Dogs were inbound on the podcast. But what a disappontment from this DP diehard.i own most of the DD’s records and come and go with them, but you really failed to grasp both what they did and why it matters. You chronically mistake instruments and Sound modifications you hear. I could list about ten you got wrong, but why ? You wouldn’t care, even though it’s your job as “experts” to know such things. The whole “This sounds like “Night Court” , line of conversation was idiotic. You have the relationship totally backwards.Egghead Hollywood studio players and arrangers loved bands like DD’s in the 70’s and borrowed their sound patina for tv themes. But you were eating Count Chocula for breakfast then, so you , again, don’t care about these matters. Your guest was a bundle of disinterest and lack of knowledge. People expect a guest panelist to add something meaningful to the dialogue. He added zip. He didn’t know the music and didn’t like it. If I hear “I haven’t heard this record in years” or “I’don’t think I’ve ever listened to this all the way through” on your show, I’m gonna implode. The least you can do when you see a record on the schedule is slap it on the player and refamiliarize yourself. Again, that’s what “experts” do. So you don’t claim to be “Experts”? They why are you doing this at all ? I wrote a weekly newspaper column about classic rock long before it was called classic rock. I was mocked because I loved bands like DP, who were painfully unhip.I tune into you guys to get a tidbit or two of new information, or to refresh what I know -good or bad- about a record. Stop jibber jabbering so much about how you spent your weekend and take this music seriously. You waste the first 20 minutes of pretty much every show. I want to like your shows, but you really need to up your game. I’m gonna help you. In early 2009 I drove from Texas To Topeka, Kansas to see the 35th Anniversary Show by Kansas. Steve Morse sat in and it was a fabulous night as they randomly selected material from throughout their career. Morse left me gobsmacked when he joined David Ragsdale on the violin (seriously) for “Dust In The Wind”. He also blew the room away with his guitar work on “Musicatto” and “The Preacher”. You need to find “There’s Know Place Like Home” ( not There’s No Place Like Home" from 1976)and give it a serious review. If you don’t care for it, that’s fine, but take it seriously and know its significance (Kerry Livgren sat in as well) in summing up a storied career. If you want a guest who knows the record and the show, I even made it onto the DVD, by accident. I spent about 25 minutes hanging with Morse before dress rehearsal. I’ve thrown down the gauntlet. Please upgrade your efforts.
Nate and John are the best!

Nate and John are highly knowledgeable, but also love to incorporate knowledge from other fans. Not only have I learned more about and relived Deep Purple’s catalogue, I’ve discovered other related artists like Whitesnake and Schenker. Nate and John always keep the show light and funny. Their humor is truly contagious. If you miss late college nights listening to music and sharing liner notes with friends, this podcast will put you back in touch with this part of your musical heart.
