Just a few blocks away from me, the king of bandra’s political scene was being rushed to the Lilavati hospital, a final ditch attempt to save the 66 year old political veteran. Many called him Baba. Thousands gathered outside Lilavati, praying for Baba to make it through. I stood outside the hospital not knowing what was happening, not knowing what Baba meant to these people, not knowing what the eerie tension presaged.
