    Are The Minnesota Wild Legit?

Jason and Frank are back with another fresh episode of The DFO Rundown. The guys kicked off today’s show with a little bit of talk about Halloween including how they handle giving out candy at their house.  They then got into some talk about a pair of teams who are continuing their hot streaks to start the year: the Calgary Flames and the Minnesota Wild. Frank admitted that he should have been higher on the Wild and listed the reasons why they will be a playoff team this season. Gregor talked about how impressive it’s been that they’ve remained competitive even with their dead cap issues. As for the Flames, they’re proving that they won’t be a bottom-feeder. Frank says that they were never capable of truly bottoming out. The guys also talked about one of the best stories of the season in Justin Kirkland, or as Flames fans are calling him “Kirkland Signature”. From there, they talked about Cale Makar’s start to the season and how big the gap is between the Avs defenseman and the rest of the NHL. They then talked about the Leafs' start to the year, their improved blueline, and what they’re going to do with their goaltending situation. That led to Gregor’s take on the Montreal Canadiens blueline. He thinks the Habs made a mistake coming into the season with as young and small of a defence as they have, he also thinks that they’re playing Lane Hutson far too much. Frank disagreed with the Hutson take and explained why the hate he’s been getting is very unjustified. Tyler then swung by for a fresh edition of Fill in the Blank, presented by Bet365. He asked the guys about which team has changed their perception of them the most, the rash of injuries that the Utah Hockey Club has been dealing with, and some early season regrets. 8:00 - Flames & Wild off to hot starts 17:00 - Makar vs Hughes 21:30 - The Leafs start to the year 25:35 - Canadiens blueline 38:40 - Fill in the Blank Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Are tensions high in Pittsburgh? PLUS: A look back at the 2020 NHL Draft

Jason and Frank have a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown for you to begin your week with. After some banter about Halloween, the guys got into the hockey talk and they began today’s show with a bit of a different vibe as they decided to look back at the 2020 NHL Draft and each pick their starting five from that class. Players like Alexis Lafreniere and Tim Stutzle are both locked up front, and Brock Faber and Jake Sanderson are on the blueline as well. After that, there are some pretty good debates including who the final forward should be, who will go down as the third-best defenseman from this class, and who will ultimately be the best goalie from the group. The final part about goaltending led them to a discussion about the current state of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tristan Jarry was healthy scratched over the weekend as Joel Blomqvist continues to get starts. Mike Sullivan feels frustrated with his goaltending and as the Penguins struggle, Frank wondered about Sullivan’s future in the Steel City. After a brief discussion about the idea of adding a full-time third goalie for every team in the league, the guys turned to the final perfect team in the NHL: the Winnipeg Jets. Connor Hellebuyck has been dialed in but should the Jets be trying to lessen his workload? The guys debated it. Tyler then popped in with Buy or Sell where he asked about a fun debate that was posed on Daily Faceoff on Sunday, Sam Bennett, and how many 100-point teams there could be in the Pacific Division. 8:00 - Revisiting the 2020 Draft 19:30 - Penguins, their goaltending & Mike Sullivan 26:30 - Adding a third goalie 32:35 - Jets stay perfect 39:55 - Oilers offense stays cold 42:30 - Predators struggles 46:30 - Buy or Sell Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? History in Pittsburgh & Goalie Woes Around The League

Jason and Frank are back with another new edition of The DFO Rundown as they broke down the biggest headlines from around the NHL. Today, they begun with a pair of big milestone moments that went down last night in Pittsburgh as both Malkin and Crosby hit big numbers.  Talking about the Penguins' start to the year naturally led to some conversation about Tristan Jarry’s struggles, which continued last night. Do the Pens have a goalie problem? Or is Jarry now strictly the backup? From there, the guys got into some other goalie situations around the league including Georgiev in Colorado, Ingram in Utah and Ullmark in Ottawa. Yes, it’s still early but there are some teams that are already concerned with their crease situation. Next, they talked about Gregor’s latest research project: is it easier to score 30 goals in today’s NHL? He made some interesting points regarding scoring trends in the league. One hot topic from the first few weeks of the season: what is, and isn’t, goalie interference? A handful of fan bases feel like they’re getting robbed of goals and when you go back through the goals that have been wiped off the board and the goals that have stood, the standard appears to be a little fuzzy. Jason and Frank gave their thoughts on whether or not the league will be able to find a solution to this. Tyler popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he talked about Matvei Michkov, the Leafs and the list of teams without wins. 3:30 - Malkin& Crosby milestones 8:20 - Georgiev & the Avs 13:20 - Ingram & Utah 18:45 - Predators early season struggles 25:40 - Ullmark update 27:15 - 30-goal conversation 36:20 - Goalie interference 44:30 - Fill in the Blank SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼Powered by @bet365. The State of the Goaltending Market

Frank and Jason are back with a fresh edition of the DFO Rundown as the first weekend of the regular season is behind us. Now that every team has taken to the ice a handful of times, some fascinating storylines have emerged. They began the show by talking about the Pittsburgh Penguins first few games and the goalie controversy that could be brewing there. Head Coach Mike Sullivan had some interesting comments on the decision to play Joel Blomqvist over Tristan Jarry. That conversation eventually led them to the Colorado Avalanche, who also have some issues with their goaltending and from there, it turned into a bigger conversation about the state of the goaltending market. Frank had some thoughts about the Sergei Bobrovsky deal and they also talked about the Joey Daccord contract. They also talked about a couple of teams that are off to sluggish starts in the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers. Is there a reason to be concerned in either market? Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell, presented by Bet365. He asked the guys about Dylan Guenther’s red-hot start, the Oilers' struggles, the Habs’ strong start, and whether or not Jack Eichel can be a 100-point player. 3:15 - The state of the Penguins 7:40 - Georgiev and the Avs 11:30 - The goaltending market 24:00 - Utah starts hot 28:15 - Predators & Oilers stumble 35:30 - The Habs offense 40:00 - Buy or Sell 57:20 - Week 2 storylines Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Alexis Lafreniere’s Next Deal & The Sabres Struggles

Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of the pod. Pretty much every team in the league has played a game now as the season is a few days old and there are plenty of storyline developing. They started off by talking about the effects of Hurricane Milton on the Tampa Bay Lightning and why the organization decided to postpone a game rather than have emergency resources be used trying to make it happen. Frank had some info on what’s been happening behind the scenes. From there, they got into Alexis Lafreniere’s hot start to the season and potential extension talks between the former first overall pick and the New York Rangers. He’s taken a big step forward over the last couple of seasons and now, the Rangers might have to pay up. They also hit on the Maple Leaf's first game against their former Head Coach Sheldon Keefe, the Buffalo Sabres 0-3 start to the season, and the new look LA Kings. They also hit on what a bounce back season could look like for both Pierre-Luc Dubois and Jonathan Huberdeau. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about 100 point teams, Shane Wright’s future in Seattle, and the group of veteran defenseman who are still unsigned. They wrapped up by talking about the drama that’s been happening on the waiver wire with Raphael Lavoie and gave their thoughts on where he ultimately ends up. 1:20 - Impacts of Hurricane Milton 7:00 - Lafreniere extension 16:15 - Berube and Keefe faceoff 19:00 - Sabres struggles 22:50 - Can Dubois hit 70-pts? 26:50 - Jake Oettinger’s next deal 35:00 - Can Huberdeau bounce back? 38:20 - Fill in the Blank 50:00 - Raphael Lavoie waiver drama Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? A New Era Begins in Utah

Hockey season is finally here. The offseason is over and after a few games in Europe to begin the season, the other 30 teams in the league are ready to start their regular season campaigns. To kick things off, Frank Seravalli flew to Utah where the first game in franchise history will take place tonight.  They talked about the change that the players are going through this season after moving from Arizona and also, how committed Utah’s ownership and management is to making sure this is a long-term success. From there, they went out East where they talked about the Tampa Bay Lightning. Of course, Tampa Bay and Utah linked up for a big trade this summer as Utah acquired Mikael Sergachev from the Bolts. Frank thinks one of these two teams will make the playoffs and Gregor doesn’t think that bold prediction is that much of a reach. We also got some big news over the weekend as the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman agreed to terms on a long-term deal just in time for the teams first game. It got ugly, but they found common ground. Did either side come out of this a winner? Or is it a fair deal? They then got into the first two games of the NHL’s regular season, which saw the Buffalo Sabres fall to 0-2. There is a lot of pressure on the Sabres to contend this season but Frank thinks that they can still be a playoff team and says their blueline could actually be what powers them. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell presented by Bet365. He asked the guys about the Stanley Cup odds, what to expect from Alex Ovechkin this season and this years rookie class. 1:15 - Utah welcomes the NHL 9:00 - Can they make the playoffs? 14:00 - Could the Lightning miss the playoffs? 18:40 - Swayman & Bruins find common ground 26:40 - Sabres come out of the gates slow 38:55 - Buy or Sell 53:40 - Fast facts & predictions Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Pacific Division Preview

With October knocking at the door, Jason and Frank wrapped up their division previews by breaking down how they expect things to play out in the Pacific Division. They started off at the bottom of the division, where last season was miserable for the likes of San Jose and Anaheim, but there are reasons for optimism heading into the 2024-25 season.  The Sharks of course had the first overall pick and will have Macklin Celebrini in the lineup when the season begins. On top of that, GM Mike Grier added a handful of veterans over the course of the offseason. Frank and Jason talked about how much they think the Sharks can improve this season. The Ducks on the other hand were trying to take a step last year and it didn’t happen. Can this year be different? They then got to the next tier, which features the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames. They both finished tied with 81 points last year but after the offseason, they seem to be going in different directions. The Flames are in the middle of a rebuild and this year could get ugly and the Kraken spent big in the offseason and have dreams of getting back to the playoffs. After that, Tyler popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank, brought to you by Bet365. To wrap things up, they looked at the four teams that made the playoffs last year. With the injury to Drew Doughty, which is expected to keep him out for a few months, could the Kings be in danger of missing the playoffs? Will the Canucks be able to keep up their level from last season? Will a healthy Golden Knights team contend for a division title? How will the Oilers handle the pressure of being Stanley Cup favourites? Jason and Frank answered all of those questions. 1:50 - Patrick Laine 4:50 - San Jose Sharks 12:30 - Anaheim Ducks 18:55 - Seattle Kraken 23:40 - Calgary Flames 32:30 - Fill in the Blank 43:30 - Los Angeles Kings 53:55 - Vegas Golden Knights 1:02:15 - Edmonton Oilers 1:10:40 - Vancouver Canucks Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Atlantic Division Preview

The DFO Rundown division previews continued to roll on and today, the guys zeroed in on the Atlantic Division. For the last few seasons, the division has been relatively top-heavy with a handful of legit Stanley Cup contenders and the rest of the division trying to step out of rebuilds. Will the 2024-25 season feature more of the same? Or can one of the bottom four teams finally take a big step forward? They kicked things off with the Montreal Canadiens, who didn’t have a crazy summer by any means but their roster does look pretty different. On top of acquiring Patrik Laine from the Blue Jackets, they’ll be welcoming back Kirby Dach, who missed most of last season with an injury and they could have Lane Hutson in the lineup. Frank thinks the Habs could really surprise people. The Ottawa Senators are certainly facing more pressure to get back into the playoffs. Frank has previously been a big believer in the Sens but is starting to get skeptical that this core can get the job done. One reason to believe: Linus Ullmark. The Senators should finally be getting good goaltending. The Sabres and Red Wings have both been trying to get out of their rebuilding phase for a few seasons now and if it doesn’t work this season, you have to wonder if major changes will be coming. Can either break through? The guys gave their takes. Tyler popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked about Auston Matthew’s goal totals and just how deep this division is. After that, they started talking about the playoff teams from last year. All four of the Bruins, Lightning, Maple Leafs, and Panthers went through some pretty big changes over the summer. Will any on the big guns fall out of the mix this season? Frank and Jason gave their thoughts on that along with an update on the Jeremy Swayman contract negotiations. They wrapped up the show by giving their official Atlantic Division playoff predictions. 4:10 - Montreal Canadiens 14:20 - Ottawa Senators 25:10 - Buffalo Sabres 32:25 - Detroit Red Wings 46:10 - Tampa Bay Lightning 51:20 - Toronto Maple Leafs 55:15 - Boston Bruins 59:15 - Florida Panthers Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team?
