Why Investing in Women’s Sport is Good Business, with Caroline Fitzgerald

We’ve reached the final episode of our Women’s World Cup mini-series, and what better way to wrap it all up than with the founder and CEO of GOALS, Caroline Fitzgerald. Caroline has always held a passion for women’s sports which stemmed from her own experience growing up. She’s always been on the lookout for a way to contribute to creating a more equitable sports world. Currently, women's sports receive less than 4% of media coverage and less than 1% of sponsorship dollars, so Caroline set off to change that. She launched GOALS in 2020 to bring more investment into women's sports, and show brands, networks, and investors that it’s good business to be in the business of women’s sports.  In this chat we cover:  The business case for investing in women’s sport  Seeing the conversation around investment shift from explanation to involvement  How Angel City FC's sponsorship strategy leads the field Connect with Caroline:   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carolinecfitzgerald/   GOALS website: https://goals-sports.com/   Want to support our show? How the Women's World Cup can inspire the moveable middle, with Lani Johnson

Surprise! We’re back a little earlier than planned with a special edition series of The Engage Nation Podcast, covering all things Women’s World Cup. We’ll be talking to female leaders in and around women’s football from across the globe, and we’re kicking it off with a bang.   Meet Lani Johnson, the Digital Engagement Officer for the Office of Women in Sport and Recreation and was selected in the inaugural intake of the OUR GAME Women and Non-Binary Persons in Media Program.   Lani has been around football most of her life, and it’s something she’s incredibly grateful for, so it was only natural she’d work around the women’s game. Improving outcomes for all women in sport to provide them with the same opportunity she had is a key passion for Lani, which drives all the work she does today.  In this chat we cover:  How the World Cup can push the moveable middle into diehard football fans  The stories that connect fans with the sport, and why Lani wants to share them  What “legacy” represents to Lani and how sustainable investment is key to seeing the women’s game grow    Connect with Lani:   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lani-johnson2000/   Want to support our show?
