    Jessica Hepburn is an award-winning author, arts producer and adventure activist who inspires people to live big and bravely when life doesn't go to plan. In 2022, she became the first women in the world to achieve the "Sea, Street and Summit Challenge, swimming the Channel, running the London Marathon and summiting Mount Everest.  Her books have included “The Pursuit of Motherhood and “21 Miles Swimming in Search of Motherhood” and she's soon to publish her third book “Save Me From the Waves”, which is coming out on the 7th of March.

    In this episode Jessica shares the story of how she has managed her personal struggles with infertility and heartbreak by turning to adventure activities. We discuss her involvement with the International Women's Day Sea Swim in Brighton and she emphasises the importance of stepping out of one's comfort zone and trying new things, even if they seem daunting at first.

    Jo-Anne Godden is the founder of Ruby Moon which designs and produces ethical and sustainable swim and active wear for women. During her 25 years of working in the fashion industry, Jo became acutely aware of the sustainability challenges inherent in this space. She decided to launch her own solution and in 2011, Ruby Moon was born. The company is not only unique in terms of their products, but they also transform their own waste and donate 100% of their profit into microloans for women entrepreneurs around the world. Jo is committed to activate women’s potential and elevate their status in communities where they often don’t have a voice.

    In this episode we discuss Jo's motivation for starting her business as well as her love of sea swimming and involvement in the IWD Sea Swim.  We also dive into a conversation about sustanable and ethical approach to business and the importance of circularity as a business model.

    IWD Sea Swim Mini Series Ep 3 - Mel Rayner, Wild Swimming Coach

    Welcome to Ep 3 of our collaboration with PinkNicky Blog and the IWD Brighton Sea Swim. In this episode I speak to Mel Rayner who is a swim teacher, open water coach, personal trainer and school sports coach.  Mel runs a sports business based in Hampshire, UK and is a partner in a swim retreat business called The Wild Swimming Co. which has been involved with a number of swim collaborations with Land and Wave, one of the UK South Coast's leading adventure activity providers.  Mel is also a former keen triathlete, having achieved a podium finish at a full distance triathlon and completed numerous marathons and ultra marathons. However, despite being in the sea most days, she still has an unhealthy fear of seals!

    In this episode we explore what attracted Mel to open water swimming and how this has developed in to her running her retreats. She also shares some helpful tips for anybody interested in getting started with open water swimming.

    IWD Sea Swim Mini Series - Ep 1 - Nicky Chisholm, Founder of the Brighton IWD Sea Swim

    Nicky Chisholm is the founder of the International Women's Day Sea Swim Brighton and creator of the PinkNicky Blog.  Owner of Daisy the camper van and mother of two, she is a self-confessed adventurer who thrives on challenge (particularly if it involves the cold) and is constantly looking for ways to to squeeze adventure into her daily life. Her passion is to encourage that adventurous spirit in women over 50 and on 9th March 2024, she is aiming to host the UK South Coast's biggest sea swim, with over 500 women taking part.

    This episode explores Nicky's penchant for late night ideas and her motivation for organising this event for International Women's Day 2024.  She shares her own love of adventure and the benefits this has brought her as well as information on how to get involved in the event. Nicky's enthusiasm is infectious and even if you are not based on the south coast of the UK, you cannot fail to be inspired to embark on adventures of your own!
