    The first of a three-part program paying tribute to renowned lyricist Lorenz “Larry” Hart on what would have been his 87th birthday. Hart is perhaps best known for his collaborations with composer Richard Rodgers, who he worked with on 26 Broadway musicals including Pal Joey and On Your Toes. In this edition, listeners called in to request their favorite songs from Hart’s career, including works from the Broadway classics THE GARRICK GAIETIES, SPRING IS HERE and THE LADY AND HER MUSIC, as well as from the 1948 musical film WORDS AND MUSIC, which is based on Rodgers’ and Hart’s career.   Featured songs: “Manhattan,” “Thou Swell,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Hallelujah, I’m a Bum Again,” “Why Can’t I?” “Mountain Greenery,” “I Didn’t Know What Time It Was,” and “I Wish I Were in Love Again”.   Originally produced and broadcast in 1982.
