Welcome to the Holderness Family Podcast!

On Facebook and YouTube we are known as The Holderness Family. We make those silly songs and skits with our kids, but on this podcast, it's just us... the real us.

The non-Christmas-jammies-us, the why-can't-my-socks-be-on-the-kitchen-counter-us (Penn) the why-do-I-have-to-go-outside-and-talk-to-people-us (Kim).

On this podcast, we will share the real-life ups and downs of living together, working together, raising kids together, in what we hope is a funny and entertaining way.

We will be taking questions that we are likely unqualified to answer (absolutely unqualified to answer) but we are hoping that the show will make all of your beautiful families realize you're not alone.

You're not alone. We are all a hot mess... a HolderMess.

    About the Holderness Family
: Penn, Kim, Lola, and Penn Charles Holderness create original music, parodies, and Vlogs for YouTube and Facebook to poke fun of themselves and celebrate the absurdity in circumstances most families face in their day to day life. They published "Christmas Jammies" in December 2013 and life hasn't been the same. Since then, their popular parodies, "All About That Baste", "Baby Got Class," and original music "Snow Day" have received national news coverage. Penn, the Dad, took a chance and left his job as a news anchor to join his wife Kim, the Mom, at their video production and digital marketing company, Greenroom Communications, LLC. Lola and Penn Charles are always happy, respectful and eat all of their vegetables (that last sentence is a lie).

    Why "I'm Sorry" Sucks

    Why "I'm Sorry" Sucks

This week, Penn and I talk about how to really understand one another when in an argument. When you're in a fight, using the phrase “I’m Sorry” flippantly is really more about making yourself feel better than your partner. We used to use "I'm Sorry" as a "please-don't-be-mad-at-me-let's-just-let-this-go" Band-Aid, and it did us a lot more harm than good.
Not taking the time to understand your partner can fester into having an insecure sense of attachment, among other things. Luckily, we have some magic words to help in this episode.

Parenting Gets Easier, Right? with Taylor and Heidi Calmus

Parenting Gets Easier, Right? with Taylor and Heidi Calmus

Would you rather potty train a toddler or teach a teen to drive? This week we have Dude Dad's Taylor and Heidi Calmus on the podcast to talk all about our different seasons of parenting. We discuss how we first met each other, what it was like to create content in a pandemic, as well as their new TV show Super Dad on Magnolia Network. (Yes, Magnolia like Chip and Joanna Gaines...) Penn also tells more than one poop story... we apologize in advance.
You can find more hilarious videos from Taylor and Heidi here: https://www.dudedad.com/ as well as watch their new show here: https://magnolia.com/watch/show/c3dc8b62-f029-5237-904d-283cf1529f6a/super-dad/.

    Decisions That Made Us

    Decisions That Made Us

Right now, there's a trend on TikTok where people are sharing one small decision that changed the entire course of their lives. It got us thinking: What was that for us? Instead one small decision, we feel like we've made several big decisions that shaped who we are today. Join us for a storytime journey along all our forks in the road, including why Penn is solely responsible for Blockbuster going out of business. #donttrustthefart

HillTuns ,

This is everything!

I already watched your YouTube videos but can’t get enough of your podcast. Kim, you are me and I am you! I identify with your perspectives and experiences with anxiety. I love your marriage tips and parenting topics. I’m a mom of four and work and feel that this podcast touches on so many things that are important to me. Thank you!

First podcast I’ve truly enjoyed

Hi all!

So I’ve never reviewed a podcast before because I’ve never truly liked one. Other podcasts always talk about negative awful things at some point or another and with someone who struggles from massive amount of anxiety and depression I can’t hang. Your podcast is so great and real without being nasty or controversial. I truly love it. I’m not a mom so I can’t related there but I am someone who is with a man I love and struggles with the same things Kim does (anxiety & depression). So it hits me pretty deep sometimes. Just finished season one today! Please keep going!
