In this episode, Ofre Vivian, a Nigerian poet shared her journey in poetry and how poetry became catharsis for her. She also recited some of her poems on this episode. She discussed the necessity of changing the African narrative and owning our African story and history.

She revealed that she performed at the United States House of Representatives and emphasized that art, especially poetry, has the absolute potential to change the world and earn the artist a living. She also shared some of the moments her African identity was challenged. For instance, she disclosed that she had been profiled in the US.

In this episode, Vivian revealed that she was once diagnosed with clinical depression and believes that these issues should be talked about and normalized. Vivian also has a podcast called Letters From Africa on all podcast streaming platforms.
