How Much of Our Brain Do We Actually Use?

Smashing the 10% myth! in the early 1900s, psychologist and philosopher William James wrote a book the energies of men. In it, he simply stated, we are making use of only a small part of our possible mental and physical resources. That one sentence has allowed a legend to take hold. But we only use about 10% of our brains. The truth is, this is very, very false. The human brain consists of about 1 billion neurons, each neuron forms about 1000 connections to other neurons. So we're talking trillions of connections. And what we're about to discover is that not only are we using 100% of our brains, but we're also wasting a lot of it on negative thoughts. Hear from the experts about how much of our brain we actually use and what we spend most of our thoughts on! (Oh, and why are there so many negative thoughts?) Our Experts: Puja Aggarwal MD is a Neurologist and received my MD (Medical Doctor) degree at Northeastern Ohio Medical University. I completed my residency in Neurology at Ohio State University and a fellowship at Cornell University New York Presbyterian Hospital in Epilepsy. I currently work as a Principal Investigator for research in clinical trials and practice in Orlando Florida. I now have found Zen in my life and enjoy enabling the same for other women. How to Have a Better Relationship (Dating Part 2)

As we learned in part one of this dating special, the practice of dating has changed over time, but ultimately our desire to find love still exists. So, on part two we’re going to share with you some do’s and don’ts and pick up at that phase of a relationship where we’ve now found someone special. But it’s important to point out this concept of intentional dating, because there’s sweep me off my feet, love at first sight love, and then there’s a set of people who are more intentional about finding that love. And it makes me wonder if that aspect of intentional, or even transactional like it was in the past, ends people up in a better position. Our guests: Rik D. Middleton, Visual Listening With a wide breadth of experience as a Navy veteran, entrepreneur, and an emergency manager and first responder. I am continually looking for the next challenge, the next inspiring project, the next opportunity to serve others, and ensure a safer community to live and thrive. One of my biggest strengths comes from my ability to make complex issues seem simple and understandable. As the author of several books, one of the books written specifically for the unique communication needs of hostage negotiators, I have developed a particular set of skills related to remote nonphysical aspects of communications. These skills have served me well in numerous emergency response situations. My book is required reading in numerous police departments throughout the country. I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to feed my passion for teaching as a visiting lecturer at both the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC). In this role, I have leveraged my entrepreneurial real-world experience and insights with students in the Schools of Business, Entrepreneurial Studies.
