The year 2024 marks 35 years since the death of artist Robert Mapplethorpe. To pay tribute to this occasion, we're listening back to a conversation Terry had almost 30 years ago with Patti Smith, Mapplethorpe's longtime friend and former lover. In 1996, Smith had written the first of many books about her personal and professional relationship with Mapplethorpe, and she shared how that collaboration influenced her career and public persona in more ways than one.
