Unfollow Your Passion with Terri Trespicio

Unfollow Your Passion with Terri Trespicio

This episode is so much fun! Author and friend Terri Trespicio joins me to talk about passion, why it’s not what we’ve been taught and why you should unhook yourself from the “follow your passion” expectations.
Hear Terri explain why talent is over-rated. People who don’t consider themselves talented can be more successful because they invest in learning, executing, and developing their skills.
Have you even experienced the lure of the secret genius?
It’s powerful! It’s sets us up expect things to come easily. Often when someone is passionate about something and they aren’t an expert right away, Terri explains that people give up sooner because of the genius myth.
Why is it dangerous to get hung up on passion?
There is no supposed to. If pursuing your passion is no longer working for you, Terri explains that it’s time to give yourself permission to move on.
“There isn’t any one thing you are meant to do or follow or be.”
Artists I talk to run into this. They often ask “what should I paint?” What’s more important is making a choice. Doing the work and making the effort is what makes you an artist. Evolving over time is part of the journey.
Trust the work to lead you. What if we allowed passion to find us?
Passion is portable. Where are you missing an opportunity to find passion right now? Can we allow the luxury of passion showing up?

Dreams Not Regrets with Susan Cohn and Miriam Schulman

Dreams Not Regrets with Susan Cohn and Miriam Schulman

Today I’m talking to one of my clients who started her art career when her husband gifted her with art classes. She was hooked and decided to continue. She went to weekly classes and painted daily because she felt like she had to catch up with others. That was 20 years ago and she’s still creating.
    In this episode, you’ll discover:
Find out when Susan first realized she was an artist.
I asked Susan to share how it felt to sell her first piece. She remembers the painting and the people who purchased it. We both agree that when a painting is framed and hung in its new home, it completes the creation cycle. It begins a new life.
Hear how Susan got her work into the LA Art show. It’s an amazing story. She realized her dream of having people experience the art and come back to see it again. She used a contest at the show to inspire new artists and as a result has made connections with other creators.
It’s never too late to start. Susan’s story will inspire you and help you see the power of your own dreams.
