Wildly profound and thought provoking! I quite honest don’t care about the subject matter in this podcast but the moral questions she asks are fantastic and makes you have to reflect. 5/5

Do not waste your time listening to this nonsense. This podcaster clearly has no understanding of ecology and has no business making a podcast on issues she does not understand. Saving the rhino is not about the white man suppressing the black man or about racism! She even asks “who really benefits from saving the rhino?”. Let me explain - when species go extinct - ecosystems disappear, savannahs and forests disappear - resulting in climate change - droughts - no food - people die. Get it? Everyone benefits from saving rhino! Don’t write about things you don’t understand!

The story dives quite deeply into the context surrounding the animals, the park, the country and the people. Great story telling. Beautiful audio as well.

Social injustice is an important subject in our time, community and social setting - there is no denying that! However, I went into this Podcast thinking they are going to explore the very serious issues of a rampant Rhino poaching problem. That was the case until the 2nd half of the series which turns into more of a social injustice exploration rather than sticking to the plot. I understand that there are deeper issues to the poaching than what is presented on the surface. A couple of episodes towards the end dig much deeper and wayawrd than just trying to find why these young men are poaching.

I have been listening all day to your podcast and haven’t the words to fully express what I feel. The topic and messages within the podcast itself are very important and presented in a thoughtful and thorough manner, which I love. However, what prompted my rating were the flood of memories it brought back to me from having made the opposite trip several times while I lived and worked in Mozambique for about 14 months some 23 years ago. I traveled many times with very close Mozambican friends through the southern border crossing to South Africa and spent a good amount of time in the Malelane and Crocodile Bridge Gate vicinities. While poaching was not as large a problem then, it did occur and we discussed it during our travels. I was also privileged to have experienced multiple “Friday evening history-sharings under the Marula tree (or a Mango Tree)” sessions in Maputo listening to independence war and civil war stories from some who had participated and some who had simply lived to tell. Your podcast brought back rich, vivid, beautiful, emotional, full, complex and confronting memories of my time there including the sounds, smells, sights, beauty, poignance and underlying insecurity of life in the Maputo region during the post civil war time period… as well as the sweet, and at times overwhelming smell of sugar cane and molasses in and around Malelane… you have left me with, as they say in Mozambique, muitas saudades!

This was an immersive, thought provoking podcast that explores a complex issue with compassion and great objectivity. Fantastic production values!

Or at least make you reconsider things. As someone who was vehemently against poachers for a long time before I considered their circumstances, this podcast will put anyone on the fence or possibly make them change sides.
