The JD Dragon Disability Rights Podcast: "The show where we look at how disability and diversity are connected"
I'm Joshua Downey and I was born with Cerebral Palsy and Dyspraxia and I am dedicated to sharing my story and experiences with the world.
Over the course of this show you will learn about various issues facing people with disabilities today and how their lives are affected in different parts of the world and how disability and diversity are connected.
Episodes are released in English and German.

Menschen mit Behinderungen müssen in die Mitte unserer Gesellschaft geholt werden. SPÖ- Behindertensprecherin Verena Nussbaum kämpft in ihrer täglichen Arbeit für echte Anerkennung in Form von Lohn statt nur einem Taschengeld in den Tagesstrukuren, für den Abbau baulicher aber auch gesellschaftlicher Barrieren und ein inklusives Bildungssystem.

From Special Olympian to Aspiring Broadcaster (Interview with Julian De Las Heras)
Julian De Las Heras is a Special Olympic Athlete from Gibraltar who has autism, ADHD and a super rare chromosome disorder. He's also a student at the "Gibraltar College" and an aspiring broadcaster who is currently doing work experience at the GBC (Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation).

A society that works for everyone! (Interview with Jenny Victory – Head of the Supported Needs and Disability Office for the Government of Gibraltar)
Jenny Victory has been working within the field of disability since she was a teenager. Her experience ranges from charity work, respite centre manager, special educational needs teacher in a special school and in a secondary school, a learning support facility manager, behaviour consultant, key worker and currently working directly with the Government of Gibraltar, having set up its first Disability Office in 2021.
Working directly under the auspices of Gibraltar’s Chief Minister and with Gibraltar’s Minister for Disability, Jenny is currently developing Gibraltar’s first National Disability Strategy.
Most importantly, Jenny is the mother of a boy with rare chromosomal duplications which causes medical issues and profound learning disability. This has given Jenny insight into the lived experience of persons with disabilities.
Her professional life has ironically merged with her personal life and she has made it her mission to build a community that works for everyone!

What happens to adults with CP?
It's a lifelong condition which does not disappear as soon as you turn 18 and it's one that both today's guest Alexandra Perera and I know all to well.
When people hear the word CP they immediately think of a person in a wheelchair or people who have increased difficulty walking but that is not the case. Alex is an advocate for people with hidden disabilities and today she'll share her story.
