Did you ever have an experience that you thought you would never get through: A divorce, the passing of a loved one, losing your home, a pandemic?

The last one put me in a tailspin. I couldn't find my footing, or my connection to joy, no matter how hard I tried. I couldn't even get out of bed! Knowing, I didn't want to reside in this exhaustive place, I did what any one does who has storytelling as their vocation. I sought inspiration from stories. People were willing to have a conversation with me and talk about their hardships and how they came out on the other side. Thus, the Joyful Toolkit Podcast was born.

In this podcast, I speak to people who share their experiences and how they created a relationship with joy. Are you ready to find your joy? Let's walk this path together.

The Joy in Your Creative Flow with Jennet Ingle

The Joy in Your Creative Flow with Jennet Ingle

This episode was recorded on 3/26/2021.
Fellow listeners welcome to episode 10 of The Joyful Toolkit! For this decimal episode, I present to you, Jennet Ingle.
Jennet is a master of flow and creativity and always makes things happen with ease. She is Principal Oboist of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra. Jennet is a soloist at heart, joyfully taking over any stage that will have her.
As the owner and operator of Jennet Ingle Reeds, she makes and sells over two hundred handmade reeds every month, and helps people with their own reed-making through her YouTube series, The Five Minute Reedmaker, her weekly online Reed Club, and her beginner course, Zero to Reedmaker. She has recently focused on building a community for adult oboists.  Her signature group program, the Invincible Oboist, demystifies instrumental skills and helps oboists to get past the struggle to find ease in their playing.  Her new book, The Happiest Musician, encourages musicians to take agency in their careers and not wait to be chosen.
PS: Jennet has also been a crucial part of creating this podcast!
Join us as we talk about:
How she broke the mold of her industry and why she built her own company for other musicians.
What her visibility journey was like and what led her to find her true calling.
Why Jennet went against the “course she was given.”
What joy means to her: flow. When she is in the zone, in flow, doing the right things, she perceives joy.
The rubric she uses to coach students and herself.
How taking one step at a time instead of trying to solve everything at once helps her when getting thrown out of her flow.
The path to success doesn’t have to be so difficult.

Finding Joy By Finding Your Center with Ekta Vohra

Finding Joy By Finding Your Center with Ekta Vohra

This interview was recorded on 2/26/21.
After a few stressful days, I am absolutely delighted to have a calming person by my side, Ekta Vohra.
Ekta obtained her bachelor’s in nursing from NYU and her Master of Science and nursing from Columbia. She has been a registered nurse in New York City for the past 11 years, working with a wide range of patients from oncology to colorectal. She has been a yogi most of her life and obtained her two-hour teaching certification in 2019. Ekta combines westernized medicine and holistic healing when providing care for her patients. Ekta loves connecting with people and is continuously amazed by the resilience of the human spirit.
Join us as we speak about:
Her profession as a nurse and why her journey into yoga was due to wanting to help people, whatever way she could.
What led her to study nursing
How yoga has helped her face difficult times, especially during COVID.
What breathing means to both of us: something we’re in full control over. It can calm us and brings us to the present.
What joy means to Ekta: state of being. It is also the simplicity of things; a meal, a hug, being quiet, a big window, etc.
What she does to bring herself back to the present, back to joy when she feels she’s lost.
The importance of community and support from others to overcome difficult times.
What Blue Zones are, why people live more than 100 years, and how community influences that.

Creating Your Own Authentic Self with Jessica DeLugo

Creating Your Own Authentic Self with Jessica DeLugo

This episode was recorded on 2/18/2021.
Hey there! Thank you for joining another episode of The Joyful Toolkit. In today’s episode, we are joined by someone who I truly believe showed up in my life by divine timing. She is a writer from a small town in Connecticut who loves to travel, converse, and spend time with family and friends. When she is not thinking about creative ideas or trying new vegan recipes, she can be found on her podcast entitled “Fearless Living”.
Join us as we talk about:
Navigating the corporate world and trying to find your own work that is more artistic or creative.
Jessica’s definition of joy: paying attention to her own authenticity and finding her inner voice and listening to it. Also, feeling a sense of peace to who she is.
Why prayer is one of the strategies she uses when she feels her foundation is falling out from under her.
Her view on prayer: Not in the way that it's connected to organized religion, but affirmation and how words are connected to ourselves, inner selves, and the divine.
An inner look at Reiki: a Japanese practice of taking universal life energy and utilizing that energy. There are different rules and regulations, and the training is focused on whoever is trained, takes on new students and can put Reiki symbols into your energetic field.
More on her podcast: Fearless Living
Why writing is one of the tools she uses to find her fearlessness.
The weight of this quote: “Shining your light gives other people the permission to do the same”

Bring on the JOY!

I love this podcast! The first episode gave me a beautiful and honest peek into how this podcast was born. Megan is vulnerable and authentic in sharing her obstacles, the inner critic perfectionism that (almost) kept this podcast from being brought to light, and ultimately, the joy she found along the way. I just purchased both books she mentions in the episode. I am so happy this podcast is launched and I can’t wait for the whole season, I'm looking forward to all the fabulous guest interviews sharing stories and deep truths. Bring on the JOY!

So Inspiring!!!

Just listened to the first episode...super excited for more! Megan is so authentic and transparent as a host. Really delicious. Even after just one episode, the podcast has already got me reflecting on connection, creativity, and how I really want to show up in the world...

Runnerchic79 ,

Inspiring

I have to say, the first episode alone is really inspiring. Hearing about the challenge of perfectionism and it getting in the way and then you eventually pushing back on it is inspiring. What an incredible start to a podcast, I can’t wait to hear what’s next!
