Episode 4.4 - Spotlight on Classics: Frankenstein

In this episode, the team discusses what many consider the birth of science fiction (and the birth of a monster), Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the original story of an overreaching scientist and his tragic creation. Through many cultural changes, retellings, and iterations, the source material is still the most unsettling version of the story.

Join us as we explore the themes of ethics, morality, and shocking realization that this may in fact be the first Young Adult Fiction novel ever written.

A podcast about books

There is nothing more entertaining than books and movies about books. It’s no surprise then that I love this podcast about books. It’s truly a delight. Journey along with Ben, Dinah, Jenn and Evan as they share their thoughts on literature. You will enter into their beautiful minds and will certainly gain wisdom. Don’t miss this podcast.

Cannot stop listening!

Every episode has been such a wonderful experience! Listening to the insights of the hosts is not only entertaining but so interesting! Each co-host adds their own contribution to the stories they talk about. Whether it be Ben, Jennifer, Evan, or Dinah speaking, or all of them arguing a point, you are always in for a treat. I don’t always feel safe listening to any podcast that I find or hear of, but when I heard of this one I listened right away bc this podcast is based on Christian morals and makes me feel safe binge-listening to. From someone who is a part of the UPCI Western District, I thank you for creating this podcasts full of joy and life.

I also have a question, would you guys consider creating a website? I don’t have social media and I feel like I would be able to access book lists better from one.

Once again, THANK YOU FOR THIS PODCAST!

An invitation to stories

The Lamppost in the Woods is a true delight. A conversation among friends that invites the listener inside the stories of the literary World.

Whether they are discussing the greatest story ever told, or sharing their feelings on Tom Bombadil, you will surely find yourself encouraged to pick up a book and read.

I myself have found it impossible to finish an episode without adding a new book to my “must-read” list.

As the poet Shel Silverstein creatively penned,

“If you are a dreamer, come in,

If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,

A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...

If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire

For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.

Come in!

come in!”
