How We're Formed by the NEWS—Feat. Kelsey Reed (News Coach @ WORLD News Group)

How We're Formed by the NEWS—Feat. Kelsey Reed (News Coach @ WORLD News Group)

    On This Week's Episode:

As you can likely guess from the title, today we’re going to engage in a conversation that, frankly, we’ve been nervous to have. And that’s discussing “how are we formed by the news?”

Because even the decision on who to have as a guest for this conversation is a choice that says a lot. We’ve been praying and believe that our guest, Kelsey Reed, is a great person to wade into this conversation with. You see, she calls herself a professional learner and after having this conversation, she may be one of the most thoughtful people we’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with. The way she thinks and weighs her words should challenge all of us to do the same.

    About Neighborly:

Neighborly is a relationship-based poverty relief organization advocating for biblical justice. We provide ways for our supporters to feed, tell, heal, shelter, welcome, and clothe their neighbors.

We not only fight poverty, we dismantle the systems that produce and perpetuate it. At times, we give a fish. Sometimes, we teach how to fish. But we're always asking why there is a darn fence around the pond, who put it there, and why they are charging more for a fishing license for people who need it the most.

    On This Week's Episode:
Following our conversation with Dr. Robert Alter, Phil and Nick are having a conversation about reading the Bible as literature. Not just as a fact book or rule book. And not just a biography of role models to emulate. And one way we can grow in learning to read the Bible as literature is... 🥁 drumroll please... by reading other literature! So today, we're asking the question: How are we formed by reading fiction? Welcome in to the Living Room Disciple, where discipleship finds a home!
