On Theology in the Raw, Preston takes a fresh look at what the Bible really says, as he challenges opinions and traditions--yes, even his own. Homosexuality, sex, porn, drinking, immigration, racial tensions, violence, ISIS, Trump, guns, patriotism, you name it. If it's of interest, you can expect Preston to address it. Think of it as theology for the rest of us. If you have any questions you'd like him to address on the show, email them to chris@prestonsprinkle.com. Evangelicalism, Eroticism, Trinity, Sexuality, Suffering, and Hope: David Bennett

Evangelicalism, Eroticism, Trinity, Sexuality, Suffering, and Hope: David Bennett

David is from Sydney, Australia where he studied journalism and then international relations. He moved to Oxford to pursue his studies in theology and train as an apologist from a skeptical, atheist background as an anti-Christian gay activist. David now holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in theology from Oxford, a master’s degree in theology from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and is now completing his doctorate (DPhil) in theology at Oxford. He specialises in the relationship between queer theory, asceticism and contemporary Anglican theology, especially ethics, and the role of desire in knowing God. He’s in the process of discerning a call to ordination.
David has recently published his first book, A War of Loves (Zondervan, 2018). It describes his own story from atheistic gay activism to becoming a follower of Jesus, in which he advocates for a positive moral vision of biblical sexuality and discipleship. His other interests include French, Latin, church history and patristics, writing, travel, cooking, reading books, and living in Christian community.

Semiotics, Anti-Leadership, and Doing Church from the Table: Dr. Leonard Sweet

Semiotics, Anti-Leadership, and Doing Church from the Table: Dr. Leonard Sweet

Len is a true Renaissance man. Author of more than seventy books and 1500+ published sermons, Leonard Sweet’s recent publications include groundbreaking textbooks on preaching (Giving Blood), evangelism (Nudge), ecclesiology (So Beautiful) and discipleship (I Am A Follower). The second volume in his Christmas trilogy with Lisa Samson is just out (St.As). Len and co-author Lisa Samson are working on volume four (for Dementia and Alzheimers patients) of their “Songs of Light” series. Len often appears on the “50 Most Influential Christians in America” listings, and in 2010 was selected by the top non-English Christian website as one of the “Top 10 Influential World Christians of 2010”. His “Napkin Scribbles” podcasts can be accessed on leonardsweet.com or Spotify.
In this episode, Len unpacks what semiotics is, how we can better read the Bible by paying attention to story and symbolism, why CEO-style church leadership does not resonate with what Jesus said about leadership, and why the table should be the center of our ecclesiological rhythms.

Theology in the Raw 2022: Looking Back and Pressing On

Theology in the Raw 2022: Looking Back and Pressing On

Happy new year! In this episode, I talk about the analytics of the podcast, which has grown like crazy over the years, my heart behind the podcast, its history and future, how I handle criticism, some of the most popular episodes, and I walk through the TITR mission, which is: “To help believers think Christianly about theological and cultural issues by engaging in curious conversations with a diverse range of thoughtful people.” Oh, and I read through several 1 star reviews.

This Is The Way

This show used to be a shorter made for radio podcast. It has continued to grow & is even better than when it started! Preston is very wise with what questions and guests he asks. He is especially skilled at how to think about LGBTQ issues. This is the model for incarnational ministry- never afraid to engage any topic, to ask questions, and to discern wise positions that engage our world and culture for Jesus. The church is better with more of us following this example.

Trubisky is bad ,

Very thought-provoking

1. I know my name insults Mitch Trubisky the QB, but I’m an Eagles fan from TN…long story lol.
2. I really enjoy Preston’s podcast. As a “Reformed Baptist,” I have had issue being open-handed with some beliefs like the TULIP and complimentarianism. While I still hold these firmly because I find them taught though consistent Biblical Exegesis, I would not find someone an unbeliever for denying either or.
3. Preston’s podcast also brings on different voices, and I get to hear their stories. I appreciate the way Preston navigates the LGBTQ+ conversation with affirmation of marriage between one man and one woman while not casting away those struggling with same sex attraction.
4. My small quibble with the podcast is that some of the guests are questionable at best, but it’s not my podcast, so he is welcome to do as he wishes, haha!
5. Overall, I’m very grateful for “Theology in the Raw” as it has served me in my relationship with Jesus, and my service as a Youth Minister.

Love this show!

I always leave not only challenged, but absolutely in awe of Jesus and not only His grace, but God’s incredibly diverse creation.
