The Lodgers | A Twin Peaks Podcast
Kate Rennebohm and Simon Howell go through the entire run of TWIN PEAKS, from the pilot to the last gasp of THE RETURN, with a couple dozen fantastic guests in tow. Special attention is paid to the context of its release, its place in David Lynch's overall body of work, and its use of style and theme.

The very BEST in film insight & analysis applied to Twin Peaks and Lynch films. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated Kate’s incredible knowledge and enthusiasm for Twin Peaks + great editing by her partner & smart, interesting guests. I would love to see the team back for new deep dive analysis when they’re ready. Definitely miss their voices!
Sometimes...other times...

Most of the time I learn so much, and truly appreciate the work these two put in- this in conjunction with Diane I’d say are the two best and most informative engrossing podcasts on Twin Peaks. Sometimes I think they fall into that unfortunate mode of using pessimism in place of intellectual breadth and/or even just letting the show breathe and trust that it may intentionally be trying things that don’t work as well as others, I do get tripped up by those moments but overall its really brilliant and worth the time!
The Best Television and How to Talk About It

Twin Peaks has now left an indelible mark on my life; a dream I can’t forget. For me, this sort of thing is best served with a healthy portion of solitude and rumination and reflection that you can’t quite get in a room of people with a work that begs to be discussed like Twin Peaks does. But after watching Lynch and Frost’s 3 seasons and then watching them again with this podcast as supplement, I begin to realize or remember, from all of those years of watching programs with my folks, that Television is a collective experience, maybe more than any other art form. Kate and Simon do such a beautiful job of opening up this proverbial can of worms that is Lynch’s opus by getting to what is maybe the point of any piece of really deliberate craft and self-expression with an audience in mind; that you, the audience, are a part of the work. It was never the point with this podcast, as so much television criticism and Twin Peaks discussions seem to think, to dissect all of the narrative connections and to suss out every detail of reasoning and plot. And while it may be our initial reaction to look for a continuous narrative thread, there is so much more hidden underneath this formality. Lynch, with all of his work, gives us the greatest gift he can; a filmic world through which we can experience a very simple and deliberate exposure of his mind and, in turn, our own. And Kate and Simon seem to realize that the best thing that we can do to appreciate this is to project onto this world with our own meanings and interpretations as an audience. Twin Peaks truly is the greatest television of all time because it does live in our world much like a dream that, while not real, lingers in our minds and represents terrible and beautiful truths. While beloved characters are being killed off in Game of Thrones and hackers are dismantling a Late Capitalist America in Mr. Robot, Twin Peaks is shocking us in more real ways; is reflecting our current time and place with greater accuracy because David Lynch accepts no filter on his mind. It was such a pleasure to experience this with such a dedicated group of individuals. Thank you.
