Ep 43. Building her Fitness Business in 8 Hours a Week with Anuschka Wyatt-Weeks

In this episode of The MumSafe Movement Podcast Jen talks to Anuschka, MumSafe Trainer and owner of Feel Vibrant Fitness in Cleveland on the Redlands Coast in QLD. Anuschka specialises in educating and empowering women through Movement and Mindset to ‘Feel Vibrant!’. Specifically working with women who want help to positively cope with the challenges and demands of daily life at every stage of life. Since 2012 Anuschka has been helping individuals and groups through health and fitness coaching to make postive changes to their lives. Anuschka gave birth to her 2 children in her early 40’s and experienced a collision of post natal and peri-menopausal life. This experience is one of the drivers for her focus and dedication to be part of the movement of health and fitness professionals that are focussing specifically on women's health and fitness through all the stages of a woman's life. Annuscka is one of the MumSafe quiet achievers who has very limited time each week to work on and in her business. I wanted to delve into her journey because she is a true example of how slow and steady wins the race and I truly believe that when she chooses to go full throttle within her business that because her foundations run so deep she will absolutely fly.   How understanding the unique needs of women in fitness is crucial for trainers working with mums. How continuous education and staying up-to-date with research and techniques are essential for providing the best support to clients. How postnatal recovery and pelvic floor health are important considerations for women returning to exercise after pregnancy. How empathy and understanding are key qualities for trainers working with mms, as every woman's journey is different. Take things at your own pace and don't compare yourself to others. Understand your values and align your business with them. Find a supportive community that shares your goals and values. Use strategies like flyers, branded merchandise, and community talks to attract clients. Believe in yourself and your ability to make a difference in the fitness industry. How fixing burnout requires addressing the root causes, such as stress management, hormone balance, and self-care. How stress affects the body's nervous system and can lead to gut issues and other health problems. How listening to your body and asking for help are crucial in preventing and recovering from burnout. Uncovering and reprogramming deep-rooted beliefs can lead to lasting change and improved well-being. AUG 4

Ep 40. Rebuilding Business from Scratch & Training Mums Right

In this episode of The MumSafe Movement Podcast Jen talks to Meli, MumSafe Trainer and owner of Phoenix for Women in Hornsby, NSW. Meli’s journey into the fitness industry started with a career in dance, after this she became a master trainer for a fitness company in Argentina teaching around the world before moving  to Australia and becoming a mum. Meli and I came into contact many years ago when she was very pregnant with her first baby and wanted to work with mums in the fitness industry; over time she completed Safe Return to Exercise and became a Body Beyond Baby affiliate before eventually taking over my Centennial Park location in 2018.  She is now one of our longest standing MumSafe Trainers and has since moved to another part of Sydney and built her business again from scratch with the benefit of experience and is doing incredibly well. Meli’s mission is to help other mums to feel amazing again about themselves, she helps mums to see that pushing themselves really hard  to look the way they did before becoming a mum is not the only way In this episode Jen & Meli discuss the following key topics: Taking time off and setting boundaries for personal well-being and business success. Evolving your business in alignment with personal growth and values. Rebuilding her business from scratch in a new location. As women age, bodies and recovery needs may change, and the importance of adapting fitness routines accordingly. Strength training and protein intake being crucial for women's health and well-being. Recovery and rest are essential components for a balanced fitness routine.  The 'go hard or go home' mentality is detrimental for mums. Social media can be both positive and negative for women, as it provides access to information but also imposes unrealistic standards and expectations. The fitness industry needs to provide better support and education for trainers working with moms, as well as promote a more inclusive and individualised approach to fitness. Language is crucial in empowering women and should focus on their strengths and capabilities The importance of stopping perpetuating insecurities and unrealistic standards. Ep 38 - Maintaining Your Sense of Self Alongside Motherhood with Samantha Gash

In this episode, Jen talks to Samantha Gash, Samantha is known for her outstanding accomplishments, including running across India, completing the 4 Deserts Grand Slam, and undertaking a self-supported 50-day traverse of Nepal's Great Himalaya Trail, raising much-needed funds for World Vision to support women and girls in Nepal.  Sam is also the owner and creator of Her Trails; a vibrant global community that celebrates and empowers women in their pursuit of adventure and self-discovery. It is a place where women come together, in person or online, to embrace the freedom of the trail, connect with nature, and unlock their true potential. Jen invited Sam onto The MumSafe Movement Podcast because she is a mum herself and is always navigating the world of motherhood alongside her business and personal endeavours.  She is a huge advocate for women showing up as themselves, understanding their self worth and being bold enough to both take up space and take time out to nurture and grow as an individual as well as being a mother - knowing this can look different depending on the season of mother hood you are in. In this episode Jen and Samantha discuss the following key topics: Challenges women have in business amplified by gender biases. The seasons of life; motherhood and personal growth. Honour the season you are in Letting go of comparison Endurance sports can teach valuable lessons about resilience, pushing through limitations, and redefining what is possible. Being a mother is just one aspect of a woman's identity, and the importance of having other passions and goals. The value of a supportive community of like-minded women Traveling for work with a child can be challenging, but it is possible with proper planning and support. The need for more flexibility and understanding in the workplace to accommodate working mums. Being authentic and true to oneself is liberating and allows for more meaningful connections with others. Open conversations about pregnancy, postpartum, peri menopause, and menopause are essential in creating supportive work environments. Self-care is crucial for mums and should be prioritised to maintain physical, mental, and emotional well-being.  Don't let external and internal pressures hold you back from pursuing your goals. Self-care is crucial, and it's important to advocate for your own well-being. Women need to support and uplift each other in order to create more opportunities and equality. Adventures and bonding experiences with children can be transformative and empowering for both mothers and children.
