Keeping Up with the Times

The music industry is rapidly changing and Music Biz Weekly keeps up with the twists and turns. Michael Brandvold and Jay Gilbert talk with people inside the fast-growing music streaming businesses to help cut through the bluster heard by artists and executives to get at how it all really works. Much thought goes into discussing why certain artists’ royalties are unusually low despite high numbers of streams. Hint: if you’re a signed artist, you might want to read the fine print of what your record label is taking from the streaming royalties!
