It's your life, and you only get one shot at it. The mountain of life includes slippery footing, tottering boulders, and thinning air. You’re strong and capable but are you fully equipped to successfully summit with your one shot to conquer this mountain? You don’t need clichés, pity, or the modern leadership industry’s empty go-rah cheerleader banter. You need the fellowship of men who also soberly recognize the value of like-minded fellowship. They see the wisdom of Solomon who observed thousands of years ago that even the best intended plans tend to go south without the wise counsel of other men. (See Proverbs 15:22.) Next Stage Ep 08 The School Of Hard Knocks 201

Next Stage Ep 08 The School Of Hard Knocks 201

Episode 8: The School of Hard Knocks 201 Wednesday, April 17, 2024. In a fallen world, hard knocks are the rule, not the exception, and in today’s podcast, Rob Stout presents the second in a series of shows focusing on overcoming the hard knocks of life. Today, Rob walks through the big question: Now What?
Now What #1: When you get knocked down, REACH OUT. Don’t medicate with isolation, drugs, alcohol, porn, food, or anything else. “Medicate” on God, because *he* is the ultimate medication that your body and soul needs in this moment. And/or, REACH OUT to a fellow man and go through this hard knock with somebody besides yourself.
Now What #2: When a friend gets knocked down, JUMP IN. Be the man who jumps into the pit with other men, and just be there. In this immediate moment, it’s less about diagnosing, diagramming, solving, or preaching, and more just about being there. If there is funny moment, laugh with. If there is a sad moment, cry with. If there is a wry or odd moment, ponder with. Whatever the moment needs, Jump In, and be with.
Now What #3: When you get knocked down, REACH UP. Reaching for an honest relationship with God is not religious Kleenex. Get real with God and take him at his offer – He really does want to be in relationship with you both during the great times on the beach and the painful times in the hospital, in the morgue, in the courtroom, with the pink slip….
Lean into what God says about your hard knock:
“Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trouble… so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians%201&version=ESV
“God heals the brokenhearted. He binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20147&version=ESV.
“I will never leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2013&version=ESV

About Sherpa5280 Personal Coaching for Men Imagine climbing a mountain and gradually discovering incredible panorama of peaks, lakes, snow drifts, and wildlife. It is as beautiful as it is daunting, because there are slippery footings, large boulders, hungry bob cats, and the air is only getting thinner. You resolve that that you’re not turning back. You are strong, capable, and a self-starter who has been going for it since you were a young boy.
What do you need? Well, you certainly don't need clichés and pity, but tips about hiking gear, crevasses, and generally not dying by someone who has hiked this path before and provides help, guidance, helpful tools, and a shot of good old fashion encouragement – that’s what we all need. You need what all the climbers who have summited the world’s tallest peaks need – a Sherpa.

Next Stage Ep 07 The School of Hard Knocks 101

Wednesday, April 3, 2024. In a fallen world, hard knocks are the rule, not the exception, and in today’s podcast, Rob Stout kicks off a series of shows focusing on overcoming the hard knocks of life. In this episode, Rob walks through two approaches to understanding hard knocks – the Elitist approach, and the Eeyore approach. Rob then identifies two important mental dispositions, or mindsets, that men must embrace in order get through the hard knock of the moment: (1) Embrace the suck, and (2) Call it joy.

Next Stage Ep 06 Living the Integrated Life with Justin Morgan

Wednesday, March 20, 2024. In 2020, Justin Morgan was in a downward spiral. Like the rest of the world, the Colorado Realtor was starting into the ugly face of a global pandemic where homes where not moving, forcing the young husband and father wonder if he was going to survive the storm.
Passion was not Justin’s problem. He passionately loved his family and helping Coloradans find great homes, but the path forward was now staring at a Goliath-size roadblock and as the pandemic dragged on and the world closed down, Justin began to suffer from a lack of perspective. Being a young professional meant that he could not remember the stock market recovering from Black Monday in 1987. He was too young to remember the recovery from the dot-com bust of 2000, the post-9/11 market turbulence of 2001, or the great recession of 2008.
Today on The Next Stage podcast, Justin Morgan shares how the pandemic taught him to seek out older men who can live a life of integration of passion, power, purpose, and perspective.

Next Stage Ep 04 Living with Purpose

Wednesday, February 21, 2024. This is the Next Stage podcast with Rob Stout, a production of Sherpa 5280.
In a culture that reduces happiness to an empty platitude of looking inside for one's meaning, it is no surprise that men are struggling for purpose. We want life purpose and of course, positive purpose. But what is meant when we hear the culture say, "You do you"? Who am I, so that I can know what I'm suppose to do in order for "me to do me"?
It is more important than ever for a man to be able to define not only his purpose, but objectively discern and eliminate what his purpose is not. Today on the Next Stage, Rob Stout talks about the imperative of understanding one's purpose and the skill sets of identifying and pursuing that purpose.
It's all about how you can lead better and safer for you, your family, your business, and your community as you summit life’s climb. Today's broadcast is the third installment in a series on the Four Foundations of manhood: Passion (episode 1), Power (episode 2), Purpose (today's episode), and Perspective (episode for 3/6/24). We're delighted that you can join us today.

Next Stage Ep 03 - Living with Power

Wednesday, February 7, 2024. This is the Next Stage podcast with Rob Stout, a production of Sherpa 5280.
In a culture that often caricatures masculine power as intrinsically “toxic,” it is more important than ever to understand both the opportunity and the hazard of a man’s unique power and influence at home, work, and public life. You are that leader and the challenge before you is to manage and steward that power appropriately. Today on the Next Stage, Rob Stout talks about the hazards and hope of power, and the challenge that every man has to steward power well. It's all about how you can lead better and safer for you, your family, your business, and your community as you summit life’s climb.
Today's broadcast is the second installment in a series on the Four Foundations of manhood: Passion, Power, Purpose, and Perspective.
