    Show Notes Episode 473: IT’S THE KILLER BEES This week Host Dave Bledsoe had a terrible dream that he was being attacked by bees only to discover he was drunkenly taking a piss on a light socket. (Again.) On the show this week we examine a moment in our history when Americans were convinced their country was being overrun on our southern border, but with bees. Killer bees. Along the way we rediscover why Dave is so messed up about sex. (Again, he tells this story at least once a year.) Then we dive right into why bees? (Honey is yummy.) We examine the importance of honey bees in the past and present.  We meet a suspiciously German sounding scientist in Brazil with an interest in genetic manipulation.  (But with bees.) And we learn how his experiments go horribly wrong.  (Again, talking about bees.) From there we follow the Africanized Honey Bees north to the United States and talk about the strange cultural fixation that came ahead of them.     Are You Threatening Me?!

    Show Notes Episode 472: “Are You Threatening Me?!” This week Host Dave Bledsoe got blasted on Espresso Martinis when he gatecrashed a charity fundraiser and was ejected after screaming he needed “TP for his bunghole” (Just an average Tuesday afternoon.) On the show this week we took a look at the cultural high water mark of 90’s television: Beavis and Butthead. Along the way we discovered that Dave tried to murder his cousin with fireworks. (Or at least traumatize him for life.) Then we dove right into the story with a short history of animation from Neanderthals to Walt Disney. (We asked him to stop, he just won’t!) Then we meet Mike Judge, a Baby Boomer who was so Gen X he created pretty much all Gen X comedy culture. (Dave made Gavin wear a Winger t-shirt in the studio all week.) Then we learned all the ways that Beavis and Butthead were destroying the youth of America and why none of them were things that actually happened. Finally we wrapped up with an interesting theory that Mike Judge might just be a prophet.     Danger Zone Part 1-Able Archer '84

    Show Notes Episode 470: Danger Zone Part 1-Able Archer 83 This week Host Dave Bledsoe said on Tuesday night he needed a little something to take the edge off, we dug him out of a dumpster in Bayside naked and screaming Friday morning. (In fairness, this is not unusual for him) On the show this week we kicked off a two parter about nuclear war in the 80’s (You know, to lighten the mood!) with the story of Able Archer ‘83 and how it almost started a nuclear war.. Along the way we discover that Dave was beat up a lot in high school. (Nothing shocking there) Then we dive right into how the Cold War was chilling out until a certain someone got elected in 1980! (Our old friend is back!) We learn how Reagan freaked out the Soviets and caused them to think he might just nuke them for funsies.  (Mostly because he was saying he might nuke them for funsies.) and how this resulted in what was called an “escalation of tensions”. (We would call it a full bore freakout!) The end result would be the world teetering on the brink of nuclear annihilation for about a week and the West not even noticing. (So much for the CIA!)
