When God Says No: Understanding Unanswered Prayers (Part 1)

I love celebrating those moments when it’s so clear that God answered my prayers. Whether it’s the job offer arriving at the perfect time, a loved one’s health turning around, or that “just when I needed it” phone call from a friend. Those "yes" moments are incredible. But, as much as I cherish those times, they aren’t the full picture. Not by a long shot. There have been plenty of times when God’s answers seemed more like a "no," or worse, silence. What do we do when our prayers linger unanswered, or the outcome looks so different from what we hoped for? In this episode, I’ll share how I’ve learned to navigate those seasons of waiting and uncertainty, and where I’ve discovered God’s grace in the silence. Listen in to… Gain insight into how God works in our lives even when the answer isn’t what we expected. Be encouraged by real-life examples of persistent faith through unanswered prayers. Learn two foundational truths to help ground your prayer life in hope and trust. 💡Today’s Big Idea: God is Always at Work, and it’s for our good. ⚡️Today’s Small Step: Check out our  31 Day Prayer Challenge for 2025, available to you when you become a member of our Pace of Grace Community. **** LINKS + RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE: 31 Day Prayer Challenge: Free to members of The Pace of Grace Community Book: The Prayer Powered Entrepreneur by Kim Avery Follow, rate, and review The Pace of Grace on Apple or Spotify **** LET’S CONNECT: Find me on Facebook  @kavery Find me on Instagram @CoachKimAvery

In the Midst of Much and Many

Have you ever felt that gnawing sense of inadequacy when you scroll through social media and see others making what looks like a bigger impact? Had that restless feeling that you should be doing more, making a bigger splash, reaching more people? You’re not alone. I’ve been there too—wrestling with that quiet voice inside asking, “Shouldn’t I be doing something more significant?”   A few weeks ago, I was reminded of a journalist who set out on a journey searching for answers to similar questions. What he found in an unexpected place completely changed his perspective. It left me thinking about how we can find peace and purpose, even in a world that’s constantly pushing for more.   Tune in to hear: How to quiet the pressure of "doing more." The surprising discovery that changed one journalist’s life. How to navigate feelings of inadequacy and find contentment. Why stepping back from the "many" might lead you to something deeper. Practical tips for embracing a more meaningful approach to your everyday life. Sometimes the answer we’re looking for isn’t where we expect to find it. 💡Today’s Big Idea: In a world of many and much, take heart as you serve the one in front of you with great love. ⚡️Today’s Small Step: Take the pressure of doing “much” off your shoulders today, and enjoy serving the one in front of you in Jesus’ name. **** LINKS + RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE: The Pace of Grace Community: Learn more or join for only $10 a month. When the Way Is Unclear

Imagine sitting in a small, dimly lit room, your heart pounding as you wait for something painful that may or may not happen—a shock, literally. The uncertainty of not knowing when, or even if, it will strike hangs over you like a storm cloud. Then, you’re presented with a choice: wait it out or press the button and shock yourself right now to end the waiting. What would you do? Surprisingly, a study from the University of Virginia found that many people chose to endure the pain immediately rather than face the discomfort of uncertainty. This fascinating insight gives us a glimpse into how we handle the unknown—and how much we fear it.   What if we could embrace the unknown as a space where we slow down, notice God, and trust the process, rather than rushing into action? Today, we’re exploring how to find peace and grace in seasons where the way forward isn’t clear, and why it’s okay to not have all the answers.   Tune in to learn: How to navigate uncertainty with grace and patience. Why forcing action can increase stress rather than relieve it. The benefits of slowing down and noticing God’s presence in the unknown. Practical ways to trust God when you don't have a clear plan. How embracing uncertainty can open the door to new possibilities and deeper trust. Uncertainty might be uncomfortable, but it’s also where we can experience the wonder of walking with God, one step at a time. 💡Today’s Big Idea: When the way is unclear, God is still near. ⚡️Today’s Small Step: Pause in the midst of your uncertainty and just notice and enjoy what God has for you there. **** LINKS + RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE: The Pace of Grace Community: Learn more or join for only $10 a month. What if I Made This Easy?

Have you ever felt like life is a never-ending uphill battle, where every task feels like scaling Mount Everest? You're not alone. Recently, I found myself in that very place—both literally and metaphorically—during a sweltering summer hike. In my determination to power through, I ignored the quiet nudge to take it slow and enjoy the journey. The result? A rather embarrassing episode that left me lying flat in the middle of the street, wondering why I hadn’t just made it easier on myself.   It got me thinking: What if we approached life’s challenges with grace instead of grit? What if we made room for rest, let go of the pressure to always achieve more, and listened to that gentle voice asking, “What if you made this easy?” God’s grace isn’t about doing all the things perfectly. It isn’t even about doing all the things; it’s about knowing when to give ourselves the space to breathe and take the next step with intention. There’s wisdom in that, and today, I’m diving into how we can shift our mindset from striving to thriving by making things easier—not harder.   Tune in to discover how to: Tackle one major change at a time to avoid overwhelm. Break big goals into smaller, manageable steps. Focus on progress over perfection. Maintain a sustainable pace for long-term success. Schedule rest and reflection to refresh your spirit. 💡Today’s Big Idea: When you can, make it easy. ⚡️Today’s Small Step: Choose one area of your life, and find one way to make it easy or at least easier.   **** LINKS + RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE: The Pace of Grace Community: Learn more or join for only $10 a month.
