The Pelvic Floor Project
This podcast is for anyone with a pelvic floor. Pssst….. everyone has a pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles responsible for controlling our bodily functions. I refer to myself as a physiotherapist for embarrassing issues. I routinely help clients address symptoms like incontinence, prolapse, diastasis, pelvic pain, intimacy issues and the list goes on. A theme that stands out to me is how little we learn about our private parts and the muscles surrounding. This podcast is for you if you are interested in learning more about your body. Focused on the female, I cover topics pertinent to puberty, athletics, pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, menopause, surgery and so much more.I promise to share evidence based information through discussion with other health care experts in their field with the goal to showcase a holistic and empowering approach to taking care of the only body you will ever have. I hope you enjoy!

I am a student of PT in the US who is very interested in pelvic health. This podcast has given me so much insight into the profession and has very nuanced discussions about important topics that go along with pelvic health. I love to see more exposure happening to this field and hope that pelvic health continues to become a more common place topic within physical therapy. I have learned so much from this podcast and am very thankful to Melissa for all of her work!

Mel provides so much evidence based information in a simple, calming manner that I know puts her patient at ease. She is excellent at patient education and I have learned so much from her. This podcast is excellent, not only for women dealing with these issues but for practitioners to learn how to better educate and empower their patients.
Brought Tears to my Eyes

I just came out from the gynecologist this morning with a diagnosis I didn’t know what to do with or how to feel about it, but that i understood because of everything I’ve ever experienced. Listening to this podcast today helped me understand what being referred to a pelvic PT can look like, and it’s really started to ease my fears about going. While acknowledging and dealing with pain can be so tough, listening to how passionate and kind the physiotherapists are on this podcast has helped give me a little courage to face what’s ahead despite feeling vulnerable. I definitely felt tears slip down my face as I listened to moments of them validating the pain I thought was normal, explaining how we can be empowered and control what’s happening in our bodies, and when they spoke about creating safe space (green zone). Thank you for hosting this podcast so it can be a resource for people who are scared to talk about this all but are still searching for answers/information. ❤️
Great discussions!
