The Philadelphia Phillies Win Another Series Despite Striking Out 18 Times In One Game
-
POSTCAST: Phillies top Angels 2-1 and win 7 of 10 on road trip!
Kyle Schwarber came up with a 2-run single in the top of the 2nd inning to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead and that's all the offense that Zack Wheeler and the Phillies’ bullpen would need as they finish off the Angels with a 2-1 victory to take 2 of 3 in this series. The Phillies went 7-3 on their 10 game road trip.
Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) Kyle Schwarber started in LF for the first time this season and was fine in the field, but came up with the only damage the Phillies offense would do in 2nd inning with a 2-run Single. 2) It wasn’t pretty, but he got it done. Zack Wheeler tossed 5 innings allowing just one run but needed 106 pitches to get through it. He picks up his third win of the season. 3) Alex Bohm JUST. KEEPS. HITTING! This third baseman extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the third inning.
Segment 2: Crazy stats from games 1 and 3 of this series! You’re not going win a lot of games where you strike out 18 times, but you will win a lot of games where you get 10 free base runners like the Phillies did in game one of this series. Baseball's a funny game……Rob Thomson’s odd line-up and decision making.
Segment 3: Phillies have an off day Thursday before starting up a four-game series in South Philly with the San Francisco Giants. -
Nick Castellanos And Johan Rojas Come Up Clutch As The Philadelphia Phillies Notch Their 20th Win!
-
POSTCAST: JOHAN ROJAS HITS GAME-WINNING 2R HR! Phillies beat Angels 7-5
The Philadelphia Phillies were able to come back and beat the Angels 7-5 thanks to a big power surge in the top of the ninth inning in Los Angeles. Nick Castellanos tie things up at 5 all with his second home run of the season jumping on a first pitch fastball. Then two batters later Phillies center fielder Johan Rojas picked the perfect time to hit his first home run of the season turning on a slider for a two run home run. The Win marks the 20th on the season for the Phillies as they close out April.
Segment 1: THREE BIG THINGS: 1) Johan Rojas’ first homer of the season is a game winner! Good for the guy who bulked up in the offseason! 2) Nick Castellanos came up with a 3 hit day after we talked about how he looked like he was getting close to breaking out yesterday! Also hit his 2nd Homer of the season to tie the game at 5 in the 9th. 3) Bohm is just a stud! Another multi-hit game and drove in his 30th RBI on the season.
Segment 2: A lot of baseball happened before the Phillies comeback. Including an error by Turner at Short that led to the Phillies falling behind.
Segment 3: A look ahead to game three of this season and if the Phillies can win yet ANOTHER series! -
