    6D AGO

Charlie Hoch, Pro Snowboarder, Cannabis Entrepreneur

Charlie Hoch is a former pro snowboarder turned cannabis entrepreneur, which makes him the perfect guest for 420 week. When I say pro snowboarder, while Charlie competed amongst the likes of Travis Rice and was on the podium at some big events, his snowboard career won’t be what defines his existence; his success in the cannabis world will be. From developing the original ice bong to building his 100+ SKU empire today, Charlie could use snowboarding instead of having it the other way around, and on the podcast, we talk snowboarding, weed, and more.  Charlie Hoch Show Notes: 4:00:  His 420 plans, Wolf Creek, how smoking a bowl in the backcountry changed his life, going from handrails on his skateboard to big mountain lines 14:00:  Fort Lewis, focusing on his sticker business and becoming a pro snowboarder, 20:00:   Stanley:  The brand that invented the category! APR 14

Stuart Rempel, Salomon, Olin, K2, Whistler

Stuart Rempel has one of those resumes. If you look at it, you know that he has lived an incredible life, and it all started with a ski bum mentality. Stuart went from pounding nails and skiing winters to running Salomon NA, Olin, K2 Skis, and Whistler. Most people at that level have a few degrees and plenty of suits. That’s not Stuart, though. Throughout his career, he made it a priority to be on snow as much as possible, and the beta he gathered from the hill was used to make skiing better.  It’s another great business episode with an important person in the hardgoods and resort world, and Stuart’s legendary neighbor, Mike Douglas, asks the Inappropriate Questions.   Stuart Rempel Show Notes: 4:00:  His streak, growing up in Kamloops, skiing, working construction to ski, going to the ski show, getting into the biz at the bottom, the traveling RV sample room, Salomon Rep,  the boot launch, and being a subsidiary 20:00:  Stanley:  The brand that invented the category! Only the best for Powell Movement listeners.  Check out Stanley1913.com   Best Day Brewing:  All of the flavor of your favorite IPA or Kolsch, without the alcohol, the calories, or the sugar. 22:00:  Working with French Salomon Team, launching the skis, Olin Skis, sharing technology, Smooth Johnson, K2, Your Mamas a Mountain campaign, internet sales and Intrawest 40:00:   Elan Skis:  Over 75 years of innovation that makes you better. Sven Brunso, Pro Skier, More published ski photos than anyone

Sven Brunso is the most photographed skier in the history of the sport, but he’s a name that most don’t know.  With 140 covers and 2500 pages published, you’ve seen him ski.  In the industry, Sven’s work ethic is a thing of legend.  He’s known for getting out a day early and setting the skin track and then out-researching everyone for the right beta to get the shot.  He’s an animal, and shooting photos is his side hustle.  Sven is a longtime ski marketer with an incredible resume that includes Bula, Purgatory, and Leki. No one works harder than Sven Brunso, and no one is as prolific in front of the lens as him either.  On the podcast, we talk about how 'Blizzard of Aaah’s' changed his life, how Glen Plake helped create his career, always having a plan b, suicide, and so much more.  Sven Brunso Show Notes: 4:00:  Svenergizer, finding skiing, learning to ski through magazines, college in Colorado, Blizzard changed his life, and Arizona 15:00:  Meeting Plake at SIA, and overachieving,   22:30:   Stanley:  The brand that invented the category! The world of snowboarding had a “high school” style popularity system and the fact that he liked the gym and working hard earned him the dreaded jock label is the sea of cool guys. But regardless of the lack of funding, sponsors, or fanfare, Alex was able to make the dream happen. It’s a fun episode, and Nate Holland asks the Inappropriate Questions. 4:00:  From everywhere he’s lived, travel, getting into snow, Jib Fest, Olympics, the chain of events that gets him to SMS 11:00:  X Games, US Open, talent vs work ethic, not fitting in, the jock label, and Baum    22:00:  Stanley:  The brand that invented the category! MAR 3

Amy Buckalter, Founder and CEO of Pulse, K2, Nike, Burton, Yakima Executive

Amy Buckalter is a boss. One of those smart people, who have that thing, where you know they understand how business works and how to amplify. She's also unapologetically herself, wearing pantsuits while refining the sales strategies of action sports brands like Burton and K2. But her resume goes way deeper than that, think Converse, Terramar, Ryka, Nike, Yakima Pivot Point, and today, she's the founder and CEO of Pulse, a personal lubrication system with over 105 patents. So I guess you can say she's gone from sports to sex and while there are a lot of ins and outs to her life and times, Amy's managed to stay on top and achieve success at every step along the way.
