Tommy Czeschin, Pro Snowboarder, Pro Wakesurfer, Olympian

Tommy Czeschin, Pro Snowboarder, Pro Wakesurfer, Olympian

Tommy Czeschin was born into a life of mountains and lakes, so it’s no surprise that he loves snowboarding and water sports-but what’s shocking is that he was able to go pro in both. Not too bad for the quiet kid with talent who started ski racing and was the forerunner for the Jr Olympics before seeing snowboarding and making the switch. Within 5 years, he was traveling the world with the US Snowboard Team, standing on the top of World Cup podiums, winning X Games medals, and eventually making the 2002 Olympic Team.  After his snowboarding, he was an early adopter of wake surfing and these days, he gets paid to ride behind a boat among other things. It’s kind of like Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson, or a Shaun White-type story, only different. Don Wallace asks the “Inappropriate Questions”
    Tommy Czeschin Show Notes:
4:00:  Wake Surf trips, growing up near Mammoth, ski racing, and snowboarding
12:00:  Early contests, Mammoth snowboard team, making the US Snowboard Team and the traveling family

Red Gerard, Pro Snowboarder, Olympic Gold Medalist

Red Gerard, Pro Snowboarder, Olympic Gold Medalist

Red Gerard has won every slopestyle event out there: The Olympics, X Games, Dew Tour, World Cups, Grand Prix, you get the idea and Red is only 23 years old. While his life will be defined by his Olympic Gold, Red’s snowboarding career isn’t all about contests. He’s just as comfortable taking his trick vocabulary to the backcountry and laying it down for his film segments. The beauty of Red is that while he’s young, he’s also kind of throwback. A kid who takes pride in competing, filming, and having a good time off the hill…On the podcast we talk about coming up in a big family, snowboarding, getting screwed by judges, sponsorship, contests and so much more. Chris Waker asks the Inappropriate Questions

Ace Kvale, Legendary Skier and Photographer

Ace Kvale, Legendary Skier and Photographer

Ace Kvale has lived the ultimate ski bum life but he’s no bum, Ace is a legend. A Midwest kid who hitchhiked his way west at 18 for bigger mountains and a better lifestyle. After a few years of resort hopping, Ace made his way to Europe, connected with Marko Shapiro, and became part of the original Clambin Crew. He started out living in a chalet in Verbier, traveling the world skiing for the camera, and he climbed in the summertime. Eventually, Ace’s life transitioned to working behind the lens and is an award-winning photographer who focuses his talents on shooting adventure. Bobby Brown, Pro Skier, Olympian

Bobby Brown was a dominant force at contests starting in 2010, and by 2017, it looked like he was on his way to his second Olympic Games, until that dream was taken away by injury. Knowing that traditional contests weren’t in his future, Bobby pivoted and took his tricks to the backcountry.  Now, his pro ski life is totally different than when we talked in 2017, and this time around, we discuss his latest project, sponsor changes, breaking his back, Dynamic Medium, and a whole lot more. Peter Olenick asks a couple Inappropriate Questions

Best in the Biz

Mike Powell delivers the goods on every episode. He always has the best guests and isnt afraid to ask them all the questions that others will avoid. No hackneyed drivel that you will find in mainstream media. Nobody does their homework and research on his guests like Mike does. He often knows more about them than they care to remember! He is opinionated in many ways but I like him because his views are mostly congruent with mine. Your opinions may differ but at least he isn’t afraid to express himself and be true to his guests and listeners.

Longtime listener first time review

This is the premier ski podcast. Best guests and the most in depth conversations. Nobody does the research like Powell does. Love the confidence he has and backs it up always. If your a skiers skier you need to listen and support this platform. Skiing is changing and the real skiers need to hold our ground. Keep being real!!!

Great guests

Great guests and he clearly does his research. His obsession with money is off putting, but overall a great pod.
