Cindy Benezra was born in San Francisco, California, but was raised overseas. She is the older child and has a younger sister. As a young girl, Cindy endured years of abuse at the hands of her father. As a teenager living in Spain, she was rocked by nightmares revealing dark secrets. From the outside, their family seemed to have it all together. Their middle-class, respectable family image hid the dark secrets of Cindy’s childhood.

As the truth surfaced, her mother scrambled to deal with the abuse within the confinements of the 1970’s mindset of women and abuse. 

Cindy has experienced years of therapy and self-help practices. She possesses comprehensive knowledge of various avenues for healing from trauma.

As an adult, Cindy seeks freedom from her past while also dealing with her mother’s death, divorce, and her son’s ongoing health crises.

Cindy has an intimate understanding of how sexual abuse permeates every facet of a person's life. Fearlessly, she confronts this sensitive subject with unwavering courage. She is recognized for her resilience and compassion. 

Cindy is an author, inspirational speaker, entrepreneur, and sexual abuse advocate. She has channeled her experiences into a platform called CindyTalks, fueled by her memoir, Under the Orange Blossoms. It is a story of overcoming unthinkable trauma, and creating a life of hope, love, and purpose. In a world where abuse is often silenced, Cindy confronts paralyzing fears head on. Her courageous approach to healing offers hope that healing is attainable no matter how big the obstacle is.

Cindy is also the co-founder of a luxury event company, Elite Events, where she spends much of her time creating beautiful spaces for some of the most important events in people’s lives. Her eye for style and design has won Elite Events numerous awards.

Presently, Cindy and her husband reside in Seattle, with their four children.
