    When Andre Harrell, formerly of Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde, was first starting Uptown Records was first starting, he had a few folks to help make the legendary label a household name. The music exec that made things happen was the one and only Kurt Woodley. From the careers of Father MC, discovering Jeff Redd, Mary J. Blige and Jodeci, Uptown records became the New Jack Swing Label that had the country dancing and singing to hiphop tracks. Kurt went from road managing Heavy D and A B Sure to managing, along with Reggie Johnson and Charlie Davis creating JDW management.

    Catch the beat with Legend TSKI VALLEY

    When you think of Catch The Beat, or Grand Groove Records, you can only think of one entertainer, TSKI VALLEY.  Pioneer, legend still as relative today as he was when he first came on the entertainment scene. Born March 9th, Boogie Down Bronx New, York (pisces) Tski began his musical career at the age of fourteen. It spans from rap, reggae, gospel, to urban jazz. Tski was born in the northeast Bronx, in an area called the Valley. He attended Micheal Angelo J.H.S., I.S.144 in the Bronx, where he played guitar. He graduated and went on to Evander Childs H.S. in the Bronx, where he and a buddy (Disco Prince) formed a group called the Erotic Disco Brothers. In 1978 Tski had joined Kool Herc as an M.C.(Fly Force). Later that year Tski had joined up with A.J & Busy Bee as a D.J. Upon the completion of high school, he went to work with reggae produces Brad Osborne (Clocktower Records) and Sir Coxson Dodd (Studio One Records) in putting together Grand Groove Records. His first recorded release was “Catch The Beat” Tski went on to produce groups such The Just 4 ”Girls Of The World”, Chapter Three M.C.s The. “Real Rockin Groove“. His real name is Tyrone and he explains: " T is for Tyrone. S for Sensation, K is for Koolest in the Nation, I is for Inspiration. Valley is where I came from [the Valley in the Bronx].

    The Delfonics are an American R&B/soul vocal group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Delfonics were most popular in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their most notable hits include "La-La", "Didn't I",  "Break Your Promise", "I'm Sorry", and "Ready or Not Here I Come". Greg Hill, singer, producer, is a member of Wilbert Harts "original" Delfonics for more than 15 years. As the second tenor in Wil Harts Delfonics, Greg toured the United States and abroad performing for audiences worldwide.
