Bikes as Medicine against MS with Andy McKenna - The Ride It Out Show // Episode 2

The second Ride It Out Show features special guest Andy McKenna who - following his diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) way back when in 2007 - has taken a different strategy to most by going down a more homeopathic healing route that includes things like stress management and, crucially, riding bikes.   Andy has been an inspiration to many throughout the years; initially focusing head in the sand on his MTB guiding business GoWhere Scotland, to now building a community called "Stoked on MS" to share some positivity and best practices.   Andy McKenna's new film Evolution can be found HERE To follow Andy on Instagram, go HERE  Andy's Stoked on MS Multiple Sclerosis Support Group on Facebook --- This second episode was made possible by 7mesh, a Canadian cycling apparel company creating some of the most forward thinking garments on the market. Thanks to 7mesh for their support, we look forward to seeing this partnership develop.  Head over to https://7mesh.com/ for more information about the brand. --- How Can You Contribute To Rider Resilience - Find out HERE Rider Resilience Funding Pathways; where does the money go?  --- A special thanks to Ben Gerrish at HDDN Media for taking the time to film the interview and some of the riding sections. I am sure Ben will become a pivotal part of the movement going forward. He just doesn't know it yet.

Life Beyond Paralysis with Martyn Ashton - The Ride It Out Show // Episode 1

Who better to launch Rider Resilience's "Ride It Out Show" than the bicycle community's biggest symbol of positivity - Martyn Ashton?   Martyn was a professional trials rider who sadly became paralysed during a show in Silverstone in 2013. As this interview reveals, this injury quickly became the catalyst to trying to find his renewed limits and it wasn't long before Martyn had found alternative ways to get out on two wheels.  Soon enough he was able to regain a lot of the good stuff that comes with riding bikes.  Despite the initial elation, some lesser known darker times prevailed and peeling back a layer revealed a chapter of counselling which helped to regain some perspective.  Despite the wildly different physical hardships, Nils and Martyn cover a surprising amount of common ground, from our attitude to medication to the effects of our condition on our loved ones.   Thanks to Martyn for taking the time to come on this show - we are forever indebted.  This first episode was made possible by Lyon Equipment, a large employee owned distributor of high quality brands into outdoor, cycle and watersports markets who are also experts in the field of Work at Height. Lyon supports Rider Resilience with advice, strategy, production, third party logistics and most crucially - time.   About Lyon Equipment  https://lyon.co.uk/about-lyon-equipment  Lyon's transition to an Employee Trust  https://lyon.co.uk/employee-trust  Lyon Equipment - Origins.
