The Short Game is the only game review media I consistently follow. Their genuine love of games as media and art and their consistent promotion of small indie games make them unique. The games world is full of the same boring articles and talks on the same boring big budget games. The short game is the total opposite. They’re not weighed down by corporate overlords or obsessed with content likes, they just love short games and talking about them. We are lucky to have this podcast.

Recently, I’ve been listening to this podcast a ton! Everyone is really nice and funny. This isn’t an in-depth review, but I think you should find one episode that interests you and listen to it do decide if it’s a good fit for you.

I’m historically drawn to the sort of videogames with epic stories and tons of leveling up and 80 hour playtimes. But, I have kids and work and all that - I don’t have time for that anymore! I really appreciate The Short Game for showing me that it doesn’t have to be that way. There are games out there with short playtimes that provide excellent experiences, and it’s awesome to get a curated list of these from the team. Even if I don’t play them myself, I like hearing Raygan, Laura, Nate, and Shane talk about the games. Highly recommended.

Host Raygan and company bring a delightfully relaxed and hilarious energy to talking about short video games. As someone who keeps up with indie developers and games, this podcast is just right for me, and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates when video games value their time.

The Short Game was recommended by my college class instructor and I was skeptical, but decided to listen to a couple podcasts to a least try it out. And I am so glad that I did. I have thoroughly enjoyed almost every episode I’ve listened to. I started with the current episode and worked my way back to the end of 2020 and I will continue to listen. This is a Great podcast. Ray Han, Laura, Nate and Shane are a great team when all or some of them participate. Keep up the excellent work.
