The Short Score: 2024 Lone Star Shootout Champs - The Score from The Team Roping Journal Horse Radio Network All Shows Feed

    • Sports

The Lone Star Shootout is one of the biggest ropings of the year, and it's notorious for its gunslinging nature. In 2024, Dustin Egusquiza and Jake Long took the win with an impressive 11.66 seconds on three steers at the jackpot’s new home in Abilene, Texas. Egusquiza and Long took home $76,000 for the average but pocketed $80,000 on the day, as well as new trailers, saddles and a lineup of additional prizes.
Just 24 hours later, Egusquiza and Long headed to Austin for the Rodeo Austin short round with their regular season partners—Levi Lord on the heel side for Egusquiza and Clint Summers on the head side for Long. When it was all said and done, Egusquiza and Lord took the Rodeo Austin win with a 12.5 on three head.
On this episode of The Short Score, Casey Allen—host of The Rundown at BarrelRacing.com—caught up with the winners following the short round to talk about the win.
